As thecubsfan said the lineup's pretty meh outside of the main, but the Day of the Dead pagentry should be cool and it's dirt cheap. Hopefully Naito shows up.

AAA has now lost three of their top four guys this year and two within the last month. Shame considering how good things looked for them when Rey joined them.

The PPVs are open to anyone worldwide. It's the free ClaroSports streams of the regular Friday shows have needed a proxy lately.

Just find a free Mexican proxy from one of the proxy list sites and switch back to the regular connection as soon as you get the feed up.

first of CMLL’s two Dia de Muertos shows takes place today. Luchadors and edecanes will dress in makeup and costume to fit in with the traditional Mexican celebration of the dead. The entire arena will have a special look for the next couple of days. And, they’ll also be having wrestling matches – Volador versus Sombra once again, this time for the NWA Welterweight Championship

This will be the 24th known Volador/Sombra match since they started feuding in 2010. Volador leads 11-10 with two ties. It’ll be the 21st to air on a TV show. It’s their third match this year: Volador won in April in Arena Mexico and August in Arena Puebla. Volador has won the last five matchups. He’s coming in as champion and seems likely to win again. This is the signature feud of this last decade of CMLL. I wish CMLL had gone with something fresh for an iPPV, but if only hardcore fans are going to buy this (and only some hardcore fans are going to buy this), then maybe you go with the one match you know will work for those fans.

The rest of the show has, at best, middle chapters of ongoing feuds. The semimain is Maximo, Valiente, and Super Parka versus Rush, La Mascara and Marco Corleone. CMLL’s preview teases Rush and Super Parka may continue feuding. The fourth match was scheduled to have Ultimo Guerrero versus Thunder, but Ultimo Guerrero is out of action (and believed to be injured). It’ll instead just be a random trios match with Thunder, Boby Z, and Dragon Rojo facing Euforia, Gran Guerrero and Mr. Niebla. The best undercard match of the night will probably be The Panther, Esfinge, and Oro Jr. versus Super Comando, Raziel and Skandalo, continuing the Panther/Comando feud.

The show is on iPPV for a listed price of $6 USD. It was actually $7.62 when they added in fees for me this morning. If you did not change your clock for daylight savings this past week (if you live in the US or Japan), the show will start one hour later than usual. It’ll start at 10:30pm in New York. You can find the time where you live here.

I haven’t checked this out thoroughly, but I believe today’s iPPV is the only wrestling one where the winners will go to a heavenly paradise and the losers will be dragged to hell.

I missed last night's show but read about it on Luchablog. Interesting after the DotD show that Sombra and Volador didn't get along while Rush had no issues working with a standard tecnico teammate.

Wonder where this is going?

I was worried about an Ingobernables breakup loving with NJPW's booking, but sadly it's starting to look like outside of Fantasticamania that the CMLL and NJPW versions of the stable might just be be completely different groups that both happen to include Naito :smith:

Is current-Mistico any good? Was the character that popular that it merited 3 different guys to play it at one point or another??

Current Mistico's decent but he's been outshone by both his older (Rush) and younger (Dragon Lee) brothers. Old Miatico was the top draw in Mexico in the middle of the last decade and a really huge star for a fairly brief period of time.

it was mask vs mask, question: is the tombstomb piledriver banned in CMLL or did la Sombra lose a stip match where he can no longer use it or was it just the referee not wanting him to do it? Question, under their names on the graphics both where listed as tecnicos, where they both faces going in or does that mean something else?

The standard piledriver (termed a martinete in lucha) is definitely outlawed and an automatic dq. On the other hand multiple people use the package ariant as a finisher and I'm actually not sure about the tombstone.

Tecnico and Rudo are official designations in lucha which usually correspond to face and heel but that's been less true lately. Los Ingobernables (the Rush/Sombra/Mascara/Marco/Naito group) are basically heel tecnicos and part of the act is based on them insisting on remaining on the tecnico side despite their behavior.

On the other side you have Ultimo Guerrero, Gran Guerrero and Euforia who are rudos defintiely cast in a babyface role for their feud with Thunder.

He's been by far the most active of the Ingobernables in in NJPW besides obviously Naito. He's was Naito's partner in the tag league in 2013 and 2014 and even beat Nakamura for the IC title a couple summers ago

La Sombra losing his mask now may make sense if he's WWE bound. One person close to CMLL said it was confirmed on 11/18 the story that has been going around the past two weeks. Sombra had an open invitation from WWE that he would have a developmental contract if he wants it. The other confirmation, not direct, was on 11/16 when he wasn't announced for the Fantastica Mania tour in January that he has been the big star of the past few years. When WWE was scouting Mexican wrestlers, he was the one they liked the most and he was the only one offered a deal. There were rumors all over Mexico regarding Sombra, and he did the usual joking without saying anything past that he hasn't signed a WWE contract (with the exception of Tough Enough guys, almost nobody does until months of background checking after the offer is agreed to), but his losing clean to Rush on the 11/13 show in a clearly rushed feud (you can take that term both ways) would add fuel to the fire. In Mexico, where things are usually a slow build, they did the argument, a tag match against Rush, a singles match with Rush, and then the curtain call style make-up in three weeks.
....
strongest indication he's headed to WWE is that he's not on the January Fantastica Mania tour with New Japan, and he has been one of the stars, if not the star, of the tour, the past few years. The past few weeks when the rumors got started, the belief in the industry is that we'd know one way or another about Sombra when the Fantastica Mania tour lineup was announced in mid-November.

"Cancelada" is the same term AAA used for the Monterrey/Alberto taping that was eventually rescheduled. Hunch is that's the same deal here.

house show, not taping.

Wednesday/today is the day AAA generally tapes the inbetween segments for TV, so maybe more info will be coming on those. AAA normally runs a very quiet Dec/Jan - just the year end show and a late taping in December, and just 1 in January. The other December taping is usually about a half a week before Christmas, so it kind of makes nothing has been advertised yet. but it's generally ill feeling to not have a tentative solution to go along with the problem, when people didn't know yet there was an issue
.
Lucha Underground only tapes the weekend of Dec 12/13 in December, the same weekend as PWG is running. AAA could run GdT around 19/20 (instead of that 2nd taping), but that leaves them with ~3 weeks of TV to fill.
