Toady has the source code for Dwarf Fortress in escrow, and it will be released on the event of his death. There is a stipulation that if his death is found to be the result of foul play, the source will never be released.

I think the escrow code arrangement tells us two things.
The first is that deep down inside, Toady knows he'll never be finished with dwarf fortress and he will die modeling dwarf intestinal diseases.
The second is that there are people out there so crazy that they would murder Toad to get their hands on the source code.
