https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gf6jYuCZgoA It's Violent J from the Insane Clown Posse singing Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel". The cover is clearly in on its own joke about how Violent J can't sing, even going as far as to splice in audio clips of his entourage going . Still, yeeeeesh! Listen at your own risk.

The Onion AV Club had a similar segment going where bands (some well-known, mostly unheard) would do covers of Top 40 hits. The well-known acts generally did a good job with the material, but the lesser known acts all had to let you know how much cooler and above the songs they were. But I'd rather listen to Semi-Charmed Life on the radio for the umpteenth time than listen to whatever this incomprehensible poo poo is supposed to be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiUiSt2Hk1c

It's not poorly done, and minus the getup (which, again, differs from the source only in the period of "robot" look they're going for) wouldn't sound too out of place on some folk hour or something. Like I guess I don't get the rage?

stay depressed posted:can you elaborate on the point for me? It's some pretty thin commentary about the nature of electronic music. It's not a great, well thought out point, but it's at least there. You could also argue that the nature of the anonymity the masks provide is important, especially as other people have worn the masks in videos/movies/whatever, but I don't want to go all Supermechagodzilla on a techno group. But setting that aside, here's another thing that makes them different than SPG: Daft Punk have professionally made, cool LED helmets. SPG look like they should be hanging out in the ballpit at Dashcon.
