I actually like the servants and stuff, but it's not make it or break it for me because what really lead me to liking Fate was a lot of the characters, the fights, and the music being godlike. I think Servants are cool when you dip into the other stuff and more poo poo like the Saver and Avenger pop up and it's cool. Otherwise it's a pretty whatever way to add big figures that do super fights. Fate's always been a funny series to me because it's got SO MANY flaws, but I think the flaws help me like it more because it doesn't try to do anything in-between, it either excels or loving falls flat on its face.

I like the entire universe of Type Moon stuff, because each major player is broken as all get out and the main characters are often not entirely likeable. Shiro is a loving retard, Shiki is kinda an rear end in a top hat, but they both have their moments when they're pretty kickass all around. Meanwhile, the supporting cast of characters are generally horrible people or weird in their own way. Tohsaka being a nice person in the Grail War of all places is pretty funny, really. It's not a perfect world, the franchises aren't perfect, but it has its own bizarre little charm. When you can say that a series is somehow MORE entertaining with its awkward porn, you've got a nifty little product on your hands. Jackhammers 4 lyfe

I like Fate because I find the dedication to world building fascinating and every character, no matter how major or minor tends to have an interesting detail about them whether it's fantastical or mundane. And even though it's a flawed story, I'm happy to have an adaption where the action scenes can shine through.
