I've had lovely roommaties too but what I don't get is my female coworkers talking about how their husbands don't cook or clean (they're not allowed to, wouldn't know how to work the dishwasher what the goddamn Christ!!) when my husband was raised just like them - in the south with a stay at home mum, but still cooks and cleans as much as I do. What the ever loving Christ. I was raised by two working parents who evenly split housework and that's what I expect and get, with no prompting. What the hell South.
