Oh whatever, this isn't worth the energy to think about it. It's a game about space magic, I really shouldn't worry about Archduke Prime-a-goner of the Underpants Gnomes.

No, PRAM is a dude; Prime is partly an emotional copy of Pram (who happens to be part of a genderless race that's overwhelmingly but not entirely female-looking), and partly the kind of kid Delta and Cass actually want to have. Try thinking of Pram/Genom as sentient robots who enjoy looking like humans and you'll be in the right ballpark.

Also:

I won't try to escape into a virtual world anymore...

Talk about a unsubtle jab at the fans: I kinda wonder if this sort of confrontation actually helps the stereotypical Otaku, or just makes them even more depressed. I'd bet on the latter.

I'm hoping to get started on Ion's equivalent of this Dive this week, which will probably be about three parts too. It's not about Shirotaka at all to be quite honest, it gives us some idea about Ion's past.

"You've all learned something very important here: there are things in this world you just can't change!"
Might've been interesting to see Pram have some resentment or something, but then it would be a lot harder to resolve this in a few short episodes.

Handgun Phonics

That was about as awkward a resolution as I could expect from Genometrics, I guess. It would have been a hell of a lot better if Prim[e] were at least as dudely as Tattoria.

Part of it's costuming and hair, which gives Prim the illusion of a figure they don't actually have. And part of it of course is that they got Sandy Fox to do the voice.

I'm not even going to pretend I'm not being delayed by Hundred Knight Revival because holy poo poo it's everything the game needed. It's really amazing how much detail gets blurred out in the PS3 game, and how much better a game can look with some new textures and just being able to actually SEE the models.

Also you can level up armor like you were always supposed to be able to.

The characters are still universally awful shitlords, making it the most realistic game of all time.

There is a side story actually connected to the Tower of Illusions that I think will further reinforce that all Metallias everywhere are prickly as gently caress.

Yeah, Viddler decided a couple of years ago that it was unwise to compete directly with YouTube and rebranded itself as a paid service hosting interactive multimedia content for businesses, so any LP videos hosted there are long gone.

Yeah I think Disgaea 5 is legit the best of the series hands down (at least imo) but the bonus content for it also spoils some of DD2, which is also a great game anyway so I might as well.

Working on the update now, this dive is pretty rough but it's actually really well done.

Okay, here’s another one.
Does it look any better than the last one?
Hmm, well, it does look pretty different. Might be okay.

Seriously, I can't believe you.
I'll be fine. Also, this "stuff" is really important.
I know that, but it doesn't matter if it's important... You can just put it in the moving truck.
I can't do that. It would be a big problem if the media was damaged while it was being transported.
Yeah, yeah. It's like she's deaf. Mom, I don't think it's any use saying anything to her.
Yeah, you're right.
Hey, that's not nice!
Ahaha, we're joking. Don't worry, we both know that stuff is really important to you.
It would be nice if you could fix it.
It should be okay. Suginohara is special. The Akiyoshi Electric Town is in the next district over.
I'm going to study more than ever, and I'll definitely fix him.

Did this just start at the end or something?
I guess, who knows.
How depressing is this about to be if it has to lead with the ‘no seriously it turns out okay’ punchline?

Today, my mom and younger sister are seeing me off, and I'll be leaving this town to go to the city.
I'll be attending a specialist school to fulfill my dream of becoming a space engineer.
But there was a lot of drama involved before making it this far and taking the first step towards my dream.
The story about me and Yumekichi, the robot I built, is something I'll remember for the rest of my life.
The story I'm about to tell is a little fun, and a little painful. It's about growth, me and Yumekichi...

Ugh, I think we’re about to find out…

I’m not sure it’s 100% accurate but I’m pretty sure that’s the point.

Nei! Wake up!! You're going to be late!!
Yeah!! I'm already up!!
It's okay, it's okay! I'm still safe, just barely!
Thank you, Yumekichi! You woke me up in time.
He's pretty capable♪ I guess that's expected, I built him. Ehehe.
Were you sleeping in your underwear?
Yes, because it's so hot. It's a lot easier to sleep this way, too♪
You’ll catch a cold.
I'll be fine. My body is really strong, just so you know.
Anyway, time to dress♪ Time to dress♪
Alright! Now let's go, Yumekichi!

I mean for one everyone’s replaced by people who she obviously didn’t know, at least visually.
Even her if you think about it, that’s not what she really looks like.

Mom, I washed all the dishes.
Thank you, Aya.
I'll get going now! Nei, don't be late.
Aya sure is energetic, as always.
Don't just stand around! You hardly have time to eat breakfast.
Yeah, but I'll be okay. If I skip breakfast, I still have plenty of time to get to school.
Seriously... If you keep this up, you're going to get sick!
I'm fine! More importantly, where's my lunch box?
Hm? Didn't I tell you yesterday that I have work today? I didn't have time to make one, eat something at school.
Oh, right. I totally forgot. Sorry, I'll get going now!
Hey, Nei, wait!! Are you really bringing that robot to school!?
...I don't know about her...

Still this is already way more tolerable than the other one.

T-that's not true! Today was just an exception, okay!? An exception!
Heeey, Neiii!!
Good morning!
Oh, good morning, Sayo.
What happened? You made it here before I did!? It's like the world's going to end tomorrow.
H-hey, Sayo!
So you ARE late every day.
No, that's wrong!
Wait, Nei... What's that!?
Oh, um, this is Yumekichi! He's an artificial intelligence robot I finished building yesterday.
You built this yourself!? Not bad.
He's my masterpiece. He can listen to and analyze speech, and can think for himself and speak, too...
The other day, I found a Rianof Quantum Bit AI Algorithm while looking around on the internet!
Yeah yeah, I got it. Anyway, that makes it an amazing robot. That's all I need to know.
You sure do make a lot of things. It's like you're from that manga "Teretsuku Encyclopedia."
Ehehe. That's because it's fun.
You really are strange... Actually, everyone at your house is strange. Aya is pretty crazy too.
Ahaha... I guess so.
Anyway, let's get to class. If we don't hurry, the teacher's going to start preaching to us again.
Yeah, you're right.
Nice to meet you!/Sayo-tan, haah haah!
Yumekichi, it's nice to meet you!

I mean if this is even remotely accurate that girl was way smarter than anyone seems to have given her credit for.

She has an even worse habit of tardiness than you, Nei.
Well, we have swimming this morning, so she might not show up until after gym class.
Swimming... I don't like that.
Ahaha, now that you mention it, you didn't like swimming either. You swim like a brick.
Alright everyone, settle down! Go to your seats!
Uh oh, the teacher's here. I'll see you later, Nei!
Good morning, everyone.
Everyone: Good morning.
I have an announcement for you today.
I know this is sudden, but you'll be taking a 50m time test during today's gym class.
Anybody with a poor time will need to take extra training. That goes for anyone who can't finish the 50m, too!
Silence!!
Anyway, once homeroom ends, be sure to change quickly and go to the pool.
That's all.
W-w-what should we do, Sayo... I'll definitely need to stay for extra training...
There's not really anything I can help you with here.
Do your best, Nei./I’ll hold you from below, heh heh…
Thanks, Yumekichi. I'll try my hardest.

Oh come on and now this is about swimming too?
I mean we could probably threaten the pool into letting you back in if you’ll agree to wear clothes.
You know full well that’s not a guarantee I’m comfortable with.

You'll be fine! It's not like you're going to die. Just take it easy. 50m will be over before you know it.
You're really good at sports, so it's easy for you to say...
Alright everyone, quiet down. Is everybody here?
Then we'll begin the test. Line up in order.
Still, Ms. Shijima sure is...
Her breasts are huge./She seems really strict.
Yeah! That's what I was thinking! Why would the gods put me through an ordeal like this!?

...I'll be going now, Sayo. Give my family my regards...
Of course I will! I'll tell them your last words! ...Although I know we're just exaggerating.

Pretty sure it went poorly.

Well, it's okay. We already knew you couldn't swim 50m since forever, anyway...
Oh! I know! I just realized it, Sayo! The reason why I'm so bad at swimming!
My breasts cause more water resistance than yours, Sayo. That's why I have a hard time moving forward.
Not only that, but the inertia from their moving causes sideways forces while doing the crawl, and...
If you keep this up, I won't be friends with you anymore!
Waaah...
You two seem to be having fun, as always.
Oh, Maki!! You ditched class this morning because we have swimming, right?
I couldn't help that. My stomach really hurt.
By the way, what's with this robot?
My name’s Yumekichi, nice to meet you!/Nice to meet you, Maki (smirk)
Wow! It can introduce itself?
Did you invent this, Nei?

Like seriously that doesn’t sound like a routine thing.
It’s like when I’m exploding something or you’re doing crime, it seems easy to us when to an outside observer it’s anything but.

Hmm, sounds fun. Mind if I take it apart?
N-n-no way! You can't!
More importantly, do you want to go to the Bear Family House after school?
The limited edition Space Bear finally came to the Minoridaira location.
Whaaaat!? Really!? Let's go!
You two really do like those bears. I don't get it at all.
Sayo, it's a problem you don't understand how great the Bear Family is.
I guess that means you aren't coming, Sayo?
No, I'll go with you. But you'd better buy me a Flip Whip Crepe on the way back, alright?

You mean doing entrepreneurism.
Is that what you’re calling it these day?

I never thought they would ship them to a countryside town like this... Maki, thanks for telling me!
No problem.
Okay! Now that you two got what you wanted, let's have a victory party at the sweets shop!
Huh? Oh... Um, sorry. I actually have something to do today...
Wait, really!? That's too bad... I guess we'll have to save it for another time.
Yeah, thanks. I'm really sorry. I'll treasure this Space Bear Family forever, though!
Haha, it's not that big of a deal. But now that you mention it, you really like space too.
Yeah, I love space. I want to work for the National Space Development Agency of Japan in the future.
Looks like you still haven't given up on that dream.
I would never give up on it.
There's really rigorous physical aptitude tests to get in, you know? I hear there's a swimming test, too.
I-I'll be fine! I'm not good at it right now, but I'll train, and learn to swim properly!
How many years have you been saying that now?
I'm serious! I'll definitely do it this year!
I'm sure your little sister Aya would get in really easily. She's good at everything from studying to sports.
...Y-yeah. But I can do it too!
...I can do anything if I put my mind to it.

Anyway I think she lived in some kind of opposite land where they think women are terrible at technical tasks.

Ah! Hey, Nei!?
Hi Aya. What's wrong?
What are you talking about!? Why would you bring something like THAT to school!?
Huh? What do you mean... Are you talking about Yumekichi?
Yes! You might not realize this, but everyone in my class talks about you all the time.
They were asking me what that thing was. I was so embarrassed.
Huh? It's nothing to be embarrassed about...
It is! It's definitely weird for a girl to walk around with a clunky robot like that.
Everyone looks at you like you're some sort of weirdo, you know.
That's not true! It must just be the people around you, Aya.
My friends and the people in my class don't look at me like a weirdo!!
Your friends are just an exception!!
No way!!
Both of you, stop fighting!
But!
Besides, that thing isn't cute at all! I'm embarrassed to be related to you, walking around with that ugly thing.
I really am ugly!/UGLY!? Don’t poo poo with me!
See, even it admits that it's ugly!
Aya! That's terrible!
Hey! Aya, stop that!!
You too, mom!? Whatever, I'm out!
Aya...

Is it a problem that I would consider that a point in favor of one of the kids making a robot and taking it along with them places?
I think we can safely discount the opinions of anyone who’d say otherwise.

Yumekichi wouldn't go out of control!
You don't know that. Besides, do you really have time to make these kinds of things?
Your finals are soon, you should take this more seriously.
...I am...
Then that means you'll be at the top of your class, just like Aya? That's what I'm expecting.
Whaaat, that's asking too much...
Then you should study more. Maybe you should have Aya help? It could be a good chance to make up.
Huh? That's okay, but today's a little... I have somewhere to go...
Don't tell me you're going over to Seo's place again.
...A-ahaha... That's actually it...
Hmm... Didn't I tell you before? You should stop seeing Seo.
Why!? Seo is a really nice person!
Just stop. You aren't very well informed. Her reputation is pretty bad around here.
She doesn't talk with her neighbors, and her husband is a shut-in NEET.
That's wrong! He's doing his best to become a manga author.
It's not like he's able to support a family with that manga of his, right?
Nobody buys it. What magazine is he being published by?
That's... Something he's working on. They're both working really hard right now...
Aren't they getting a little old for that? They're married, they can't just float around aimlessly forever.
They aren't floating around aimlessly! They're working towards their dreams!
You can't eat dreams. If you keep going there, people will start looking at you the same way. Stop it.
No, I don't want to! Seo isn't a bad person, why do other people say such terrible things!?
I'm done. I'm going to go visit them.
Yumekichi, let's go!
Hey! Nei!!
...Ugh!!

I think we can sight unseen assume anyone her mother objects to is probably pretty cool.

...Haha, I guess so.
That's why I don't really like this town.
...
Anyway, let's go! We'll be late if we don't hurry.

Well, probably. There might be some caveats to that.

Coming.
Oh, hi Nei. Welcome. You're a little late today.
Ehehe, I had a fight at home.
Wow, this is cute! What is this?
I built him myself. He's an artificial intelligence robot, Yumekichi.
Hello./Sarly-tan, haah haah.
Oh, he can greet others too. Hello.
By the way, where's Shirotaka?
Reo's in the back room. Come on in.
Thanks!
Reo, Nei's here for a visit.
...Oh hi, Nei.
Wah, Shirotaka! What happened?
To be honest... I didn't manage to get into "Shonen Nyuroki"...
I-I see... But that's okay! Nyuroki isn't the only magazine around!
Haha, you're right.
Don’t give up on your dreams!/You’d be happier without dreams.
Hm? Nei, what's this...
He's a robot I built, Yumekichi.
It's just as Yumekichi says! You can't ever give up on your dreams!!

Yep, here comes this guy. And since he’s part of the Dive he’s probably pretty important too. Ugh.

You're amazing compared to me, Nei. You built such a high-level robot.
T-that's not true! I'm only good at building things... I want you to teach me how to draw.
Haha, thanks. But unfortunately, I can't really do that right now.
I'm really sorry, but could you save it for next time? I need to think of a new manga to write...
Reo, you're pushing yourself too hard. At this rate, you won't be able to come up with a good idea.
But I need to start earning money as soon as I can... I can't just keep relying on you forever, Sayuri.
You don't need to worry about that. You still have plenty of money saved up, and I have an income too.
More importantly, you seem to be really stressed lately. I'm a lot more worried about that, you know?
...Hmm, I guess that's true, but...
Nei, I'm sorry you came all the way here, but could you leave me alone for today...? I'm really sorry!
No, it's okay! Please get some rest!
Thanks. I'll teach you how to draw next time.
...Sorry about that.
No, it's fine. I'm the one who asked in the first place.

And just like the other one, the funny joke character is in fact terribly depressing.

Thank you. You're really kind, Nei.
I wonder if Shirotaka is okay...?
...I don't know. He keeps writing, but he's never accepted. He seems to be depressed lately.
I'd like him to take a break, but... I can understand why he wouldn't want to do that.
Yeah...
Have a picnic as a change of pace…/Draw an adult manga with Nei as model.
That's perfect! Sayuri, would you like to do that?
Huh?
He's getting stressed from being shut in his room alone all day. I think it would be good if he went outside!
I see. I think so too. But we only recently moved here, so I don't know much about this town...
Hmm, I see. In that case, I could draw you a map showing lots of wonderful places around town.
Really? Thank you. But...
I'd be a lot happier if you came along with us, Nei.
Huh? But if I'm with you, I'd just get in the way...
That's not true. I think Reo would be happier if you were with us, too.
Ehehe, then I'd be happy to.
Okay, it's decided. Would you like to go on a picnic this weekend?
O-okay!
Nei, thanks for everything. We haven't really gotten along with our neighbors since moving here...
I'm glad that you come to visit us. Reo is always grateful too.
That's good. I was worried that I was just causing you trouble all the time.
Not in the slightest.
But from my point of view, I'm kind of jealous how well you two get along.
All I do is fight back at home...
I see. But isn't that because they're concerned for you, Nei?

Still this is way more tolerable.
Oh for sure.

Huh?
Like today, Shirotaka was troubled, but you were there to support him. I thought that was really great.
I was just wondering how a couple could get along that well.
Hehe... Nei, is there someone you like? Are you thinking about getting married?
Huh? N-no! I don't have anyone like that yet.
But in the future, if I do, I'd want to live happily with them, just like you two.
Also... When I'm at home, I just don't feel happy... And I wonder why...
I see. It seems you're troubled too. Maybe I'll listen to your worries when we go on our picnic.
Really? Ehehe, that would be nice. I didn't have anyone I could talk to about these things...
That goes for us both.
Yeah, both of us!
Anyway, I'll be looking forward to this weekend.
Oh, but if Shirotaka says no, we'll have to think of something else.
That's right. But I doubt he would say that. Hehe.

Looks like we’re almost at a good break point.

Ah, oh right... "Shirotaka" is Reo's pen name, when writing manga.
But still, those two really are a lovely couple. I'm jealous.
Let’s get married!/Are you interested in marriage, Nei?
Whaaat!? I can't get married to you, Yumekichi.
But I wonder why I feel like that wouldn't be such a bad thing...? Ehehe.

Welcome to NotJapan, where you can get a job working in space as a matter of course and build a highly intelligent robot out of a spare parts, but still get criticized for trying to do either of those things.

In fairness to the Mom though, grades are way too important in Japan, so her concern isn't unwarranted: especially since being a space engineer almost certainly means needing government approval of some sort, and that means getting into a top college, which is only going to accept people at the top of the class. So...yeah, Not-Ion kind of has her head in the clouds; it doesn't help that she's better suited to building the robots that go into space, rather than going to space herself. Sending people to work in space is crazy expensive!

That sounds fun. Shall we get going, then?
Yeah!

Ugh all this taking care of your kids stuff must be turning me soft, a picnic sounds kinda good right now.
We’ve got a nice place for that actually, no neighbors nearby to care about explosions.

Yeah... I'm surprised that a wonderful place like this existed within walking distance.
Ehehe, I'm glad you like it. The scenery on that ridge over there is really nice, and the grass is so soft.
Alright, then let's go there and have lunch!

Phew... Haah... I finally made it.
I haven't been exercising much lately, so this hill was really tough.
Waaah... You're all so fast.
Nei, you're the youngest one here. You shouldn't say things like you're some old lady.
Uu, I'm just not good at running!
Awww, maybe. Though getting some stamina will help you get into the National Space Development Agency.
I-I know that!
Anyway, let's have lunch here.
Today I brought homemade cheese cannelloni, ravioli, and sandwiches on freshly baked bread♪
A-awesome!!

Alright let me back up a step. Explain the chain of events you think happens on a picnic.
We get some food together, eventually there is a dispute of some sort at which point explosions are a natural consequence.

That's right, Yumekichi. Sounds like you know even more than Nei.
That's amazing! Where did you get that information?
Anyway, help yourselves♪
Let's eat!
Whew, I ate a lot! Your cooking really is the best, Sayuri.
That's good. It's worth the effort if you enjoyed it, Reo.
Alright! I need to move around a bit after eating all that, I'm going to explore that area over there!
Yumekichi, this is your first time here too, right? Want to come with me?
More than happy to!/How bothersome…
That's the spirit! Let's get going.
Yumekichi, I think you should go with him too.
Alright, that's settled. Let's go, Yumekichi!
Don't run off too far, okay?

That’s actually better than I was assuming. I figured you just got drunk and started blowing things up randomly.
That only happened, like, once.

Yeah. He's been cramped up in the house for months, troubling himself. I think today will be good for him.
...Um...
Why are you able to support Shirotaka's dreams, Sayuri?
...Huh?
This might sound rude, but, um... He's not making any money, and you aren't exactly living an easy life.
That's true... Our life isn't easy. But it's something I decided.
You... Decided...?
Yes...
Now that I think about it, have I told you what I do for work?
Um, I think it was music... Or something?
That's right. I compose music. I write music for orchestras, marching bands, and even TV commercials.
Right now, I have plenty of work, and I'm earning a good income every month. But it hasn't always been like that.
Working with music actually costs a lot of money. I have to maintain instruments, and buy new software.
When I got married, I didn't have a name for myself yet, so I was losing money every month.
But Reo told me to keep going.
He was a regular office worker with a stable income. He wouldn't go drinking with coworkers, supporting me instead.
He would always tell me, "I'm in love with your talent."

Hey wait, are you crying a little bit?
Pretty sure it’s raining.

...That's wonderful.
Yes, he was. Thanks to him, I was finally accepted.
Not only was he a good husband, he also appreciated me and my work as a composer.
That's why it's my turn to help him. I want to see him accomplish what he wants.
...You two do have strong bonds, since ages ago.
Hmm, I can see that now, but before, there were problems.
Huh?
We would fight every day, and there were times when we couldn't stand each other.
There was even a time when we were going to file divorce papers.
Whaaaat!?
System Message: Obtained the thought gem, [Grand Understanding]!
But because we were able to face each other, and talk to each other seriously, we're still together.
You need to work hard too, Nei. All of this starts with finding someone you love and getting married.
Y-yeah! But I need to find someone I like first.
Hehe, that's right.

Raining. Indoors. And we’re up on the Tower, so doubly indoors and with an artificial atmosphere.
Yes.

I've been shut indoors a lot, so the sun still feels really bright.
Have you come up with a new manga yet?
Hm, unfortunately not. But I think it's good to have a change of pace sometimes.
Changing your mood can help you think of new things.
Why aren’t you ever accepted?/I’ll write it for you!
That's a painful thing to ask. Hmm... I wonder why? If I knew, I probably wouldn't be so troubled.
This might be bragging, but I'm actually pretty confident in my drawing skills. People like my art.
But they always say the same thing every time. The characters seem dead, they don't have any life to them...
They all say that, but nobody ever tells me WHY the characters don't seem lively, or what I should do about it.
That's why I'm always trying new things, hoping that next time the characters will be accepted. Still...
Do you like your own manga?/Do you find your characters attractive?
Huh? My own manga? Hmm, if I had to say, I don't dislike it, but I don't know if I like it either...
I'm actually writing manga that's a little different from the ones I enjoy.
Why would you do that…
Because my own taste is too niche. I know I'm in the minority.

Changing the subject, I’m already dreading finding out what this guy is so embarrassed about liking.

That's not really true, but...
You know, I'm a good age, and I'm married. I can't keep troubling Sayuri forever...
I can't deny that. I do a lot of research, and study new types of "moe", but...
There's so many types of "moe", beyond the scope of what I know and like. It's overwhelming.
Can’t make good stuff if you dislike it.
I guess that's true...
Argh! What should I do!? My own interests won't sell, and I don't understand what's popular these days!
Haah... Maybe manga just isn't for me. I should just swallow my pride, and get a real job...
Giving up already?/That might be best.
I don't know what to do anymore. If I was still young and single, I'd probably keep trying, but...
Right now, I'm married, and I'm causing Sayuri too much trouble.
...
Okay, I've decided if my next manga isn't accepted, I'll give up on manga and get a real job.
Since this is the last time, I'm going to just go all out with my own interests when I write it.
Is that really okay?
Yeah. I've been so worried about other things lately, this will also be a good opportunity to relieve stress.
Other things?
My dream is to hit it big in manga, but I'm worried that I won't be happy writing the manga I write now.
Writing manga every day that I don't find "moe" would be like torture. I might not be able to endure it.
That's why I was worried that I'd just be in pain, regardless of if I was accepted or not.
But just like you said before, if I'm accepted for writing something I like, I really would be happy...
If that doesn't work, I'd be better off getting a normal job rather than writing manga I don't like.
That's how I feel now.
Thanks, Yumekichi. I'll work hard on this, starting today!
It doesn't matter if it sells or not, I'm going to do something I enjoy!!
Do your best, Shirotaka!

Okay, yeah, picturing what that might be is giving me pause.

I hope Shirotaka can have fun writing his manga now...
Yeah, I'm sure he'll be fine!

Looks like there’s a big time lapse.

After that, Shirotaka shut himself away even more than before, and continued writing his manga.
And I've been doing extra swimming lessons every day, by Ms. Shijima's orders...
Nei!
Are you done with swim practice?
Yeah... It's finally over... I'm beat.
Still, I've never seen someone swim like a brick like you.
It's not fair, Maki. You're always ditching swim practice, yet you passed the test on your first try...
I'm actually good at swimming.
By the way, have you decided on what to do yet?
Right, this is already the summer of our 3rd year.
What are you planning to do? Are you going to college? Getting a job? Or... Getting married?
I want to get married!
Me too! ...Well, I say that, but I'm probably going to go to college.
What about you, Nei?
Me? I've already decided. I'm going to go to an engineering university.
You didn't even need to ask.
Well, she did make something like Yumekichi, after all.
But going to a university means living in the city by yourself. Aren't your parents opposed to that?
Huh? Y-yeah, they are... But I'm sure it'll be okay.
They're complaining now, but I doubt Mom or Dad will force me to do something I don't like.
I'd hope not.

So what about you?
Huh?

Welcome home, Nei. I have something to talk about. Do you have time?
Huh, what is it?
Your father managed to get you a scholarship endorsement to the Sasagawa Cooking Vocational School.
...What?
You should know about it. It's a famous school that produces lots of famous chefs, so they're always on TV.
It's in the next town over, so you can commute from home. You can get a full scholarship if you pass the test.
...Mom...
It's hard to get scholarships, but your father is friends with the chairman, so he got you on the list.
You're really good at making all kinds of things, so I'm sure you...
MOM!!
...? W-what is it? Don't startle me like that.
Didn't I tell you? I want to go to an engineering university. Did you forget already?
...Nei. Could you start thinking seriously?
Didn't you say you wanted to go to that space something university?
It's the Space Development University's Department of Engineering!
Isn't that a university in the city? I can't let you go somewhere so far and dangerous.
Why not!?
You're a quiet girl, you couldn't possibly live in the city by yourself.

I mean you get to be this lady at some point in the future. Your kids are going to grow up and want to do things you think sound really stupid.
They, they might not…

Even Aya decided to go to a local college. You're older than her, you shouldn't say such immature things.
This is terrible... Just terrible. I've always been saying this!
I've been studying physics and math for this. I've never had a doubt about this, ever!
The big universities have low acceptance rates. If you go and fail, you'll be a laughingstock!
I don't care about the neighbors!! They have nothing to do with me!!
Nei! This isn't just your problem! You'll embarrass me, and Aya too!
I'll definitely pass!!
It won't happen. There's a physical aptitude test too... You can't swim 50m, do you really think you'll pass?
...
The people applying to that university are all high level. Aya might be fine, but your grades won't match up.
I'll do it! I'll work hard to swim 50m starting now, and I'll study for the entrance test too!
Nei!! You need to look at reality!!
System Message: Obtained the thought gem, [Time to Face the Truth]!
...
I'm just thinking about you, Nei. I'm not trying to be mean.
You'll be a lot happier finding a nice husband in this town, than going to the city and finding trouble.
Everyone'll talk when you graduate from Sasagawa Cooking Vocational School. Though you might not get that.
...I don't get it... At all.

You think every idea that you cannot directly attribute to yourself is dumb.
That’s stupid as hell, I don’t… Okay, fine, I think I see it.

What's wrong? Fighting again?
You should tell her, Aya. Your sister's still talking about going to a city university and going to space.
Hmm... Nei, you've always been saying that. You're always dreaming, and you have no grasp of reality.
...
Don't you already know? Even with my grades, I'd be in the lower ranks in the city.
There're no universities you could go to with your grades.
That's why I'm going to work hard!!
It's not possible!! Don't embarrass me anymore!
You're already famous for making strange things. If people knew you failed the test at a big university...
Whatever!! You, and mom, and everyone are all just terrible!! I hate you!!
Nei!!
I'm going to that university!! I'll fill out the applications myself, and save up for the exam fees!
Don't be ridiculous!! Do you realize the trip to the city alone would cost you over 30,000 yen?
I said I'm going!! I'll definitely go!!
Hey, Nei!! Where are you going at a time like this!?
Just leave her. There's only one place for her to go.

So seriously what are you going to do if one of your kids wants to like work with orphans or raise fluffy animals or something?
Ugh, what a pain. Hmm…

...Nn... Uu...
Nei!? What happened!?
Nei!!
Nei, I did it!! I won the rookie of the year award, and the editor-in- chief's prize!!
H-hey, Reo!?
Not only that, but the editor-in-chief called me himself, and said he wants to serialize my manga!! Yahoooo!!
Reo!! Think about the situation here!
...Huh?
Woaaah! Nei, what happened!?
...Sniff... Shirotaka... Congratulations...
I see. That's pretty harsh...
I wish I was your child instead. I wouldn't have to go though such painful things if I was...
I don't know about that.
Huh?
Well, it's true that if you were our child, I wouldn't outright refuse to listen to your wishes. But...
I wouldn't let you play around until you had a 100% chance of passing, and force you to live in a dorm.
In that case, you wouldn't have the free time to build things, or meet with people like us.
Whaaat... Why!?
Well, I was exaggerating a little bit.
But if you were our child, I'd probably do the same thing.
As a parent, I'd be willing to do anything to help my child find the greatest happiness.
We're not talking about now, but in the future when you live on your own, and even when you're an old lady...
I'd want to do what I think is best in the long term.

Well, even if I didn’t get what they were on about I think I’d have to do whatever I could to help them be the best bunny rancher or whatever the hell else they wanted to be.

I'm sure that's because your mother feels happy with the way things are now.
She's in a rural town, worried about gossip, raising two daughters in an old house. How could she be happy?
Hehe, I guess this was still too difficult for you.
Parents aren't almighty, by far. But they want their children to be happy.
To do that, they start to push their own life experiences onto you, things that they feel made them happy.
If they didn't do that, they'd feel as though they were the ones who made the wrong choices in life.
...Like my dad.
Hm?
My dad wanted to become a pro athlete. Not only that, he actually had the opportunity, but...
He refused. He said if he was an athlete, and he hurt himself, he wouldn't be able to provide.
Because of that, he's working away from home now. If I was him, I would have gone and become an athlete.
Your father was just thinking of his family's happiness, and chose his current path in life.
Does that mean I have to walk the same path? That's not right!
Yeah, I don't think that's right either.
Huh...?
But there's one thing you can't do. Causing worry for your father and mother.
...
Parents don't want their children to experience any unfortunate events.
That's why they feel a need to say some things, even if they know you won't like hearing it.
Right. You shouldn't feel a need to bend your own will... But you need to understand why your mother is worried.

I mean I know what it’s like to have people think your efforts are stupid and pointless, and the results are also a matter of historical record.
True.

...Nei, are you okay?
...Huh? Oh, yeah.
Sorry, this is hard to explain. This might have actually been hurtful for you to hear...
No, it's not! Actually, what you said helped me realize a lot of things.
Thank you so much!
I'll need a little more time to sort out my thoughts, but... Once I do, I'll talk to my mom again!
I see... That's good!
Nei, do your best. I'll be supporting you too.
Thank you!
Also, sorry I couldn't say this properly earlier. Shirotaka, congrats on winning the editor's award!
Yeah! Thanks Nei! I just really needed to thank you for this. You too, Yumekichi.
Huh? Yumekichi too?
I was able to win this award because of the picnic you invited us to.
At that time, I talked about a lot of things with Yumekichi... I won after writing based on his advice.

Oh no, are we about to find out what his horrible comic was about?

That's not true. You helped me think of the basis for my new manga.
What kind of story did you write?
It's pretty simple. Works filled with powerful thoughts have strength. That makes for a fascinating story.
The editor-in-chief said that on the phone.
He said the manga I wrote doesn't fit with current trends, but he felt it has power. It could get popular.
That's wonderful!
Good work! You too, Yumekichi!
Would you like to read it? I don't know if you'll find it interesting, though.
Of course I would! I'd read it even if you refused.
Sorry for the wait! Here it is!!
This is... "Magical Giant Girl: Melty Piko"?
Yeah! What do you think? Pretty cute, right!?
...Um, what's a "giant girl"?
You don't know!? It's a girl who's as big as a mountain!

So like some kind of assault on giants? That’d never work.

All cities lie in ruins, and people huddle together in broken-down underground shelters.
Piko Azumino, a girl living in Shelter 35 of the Imperial Capital, goes to get clean water for her ailing mother.
However! On her way back, Piko encounters a Beast, to her great misfortune!!
Eeeek!!
There's nothing poor Piko can do! But that moment! A dashing, mysterious girl appears!
W-who are you...!?
Is the mysterious girl a friend, or an enemy!?
If you want to live, inject yourself with this medicine I made!
O-okay!!
Piko decides to use the medicine from the mysterious girl, for her mother's sake! Then!!
Wha...!? What...!?
AAAAAAH!!
What's this!? She grows into a giant girl, over 10 meters in height!!
Ugh! Looks like I have no choice!
Melty Piko is here! I'll beat the bad Beasts to a pulp!
Taaaake this!!
That was how (the now giant) Piko was able to escape from her predicament!!
From that day, Piko Azumino became Melty Piko, a giant girl fighting the Beasts for justice, and world peace!!

Well yeah I mean how do you even… No, wait, nope. Just thinking about it is making me want to blow up some humans.

I know right!? Does that mean you're into giant girls too!?
Huh? I wouldn't really go that far, but... It was really fun!
I see... Do you get it at least, Yumekichi?
Of course! Giant girls are the best!!/This is more niche than I imagined.
System Message: Obtained the thought gem, [Advanced MOE]!
Yeaaaah!! I knew you were a kindred spirit, Yumekichi!
Ordinary people just don't understand the greatness of giant girls!
You should come over for a visit some other time, and we'll talk about the wonders of giant girls all night!
Nei, Yumekichi. Thanks for reading my manga.
I might have won an award, but things are just going to get rougher. I can't relax just yet.
Please do your best! I'll buy it when it comes out.
Thanks! You shouldn't give up either!
Yeah!!

So is this about to get all uplifting or something?
I guess.

I realized something when we were talking to Shirotaka and Sayuri.
I think the thing my mom's worried about the most... Is how I'd feel if I failed the entrance test.
It's true that the neighbors would also look down on us if I failed...
That's why I want to make a promise to my mom.
Nei! When did you get home!? I was really worried about you, you know?
I'm sorry, Mom.
Um, Mom, there's something I want to ask you.
I really want to work in space. But I also understand why you're worried, too.
This is sudden. What's wrong?
If I manage to swim 50m during this term, and score within the top 10 in my class on my final exams...
I want you to allow me to take the entrance test for the university I want to go to.
But if I don't, I'll give up, and go to the cooking school.
Nei...
Please, Mom. I don't want to cause you trouble. But I also don't want to give up on my dreams.
...
I understand. That's fine, Nei. But this is a promise, okay? You need to listen to me if you can't do it.
Yeah, I promise! ...Thank you, Mom.

Huh, I guess it did.
Yeah, we’ll have to see where this is going. Next time.

:allears:..wunderbar. Honestly, I think the most depressing thing about this is that I already knew "giant girls" is a thing.

Regardless, don't take the game's advice, kiddos: writing what you like/know only works for a while, because you'll soon run full-speed into a writers block, either when you reach the end of the story, or when you run out of plot lines. The former happened to JK Rowling after Harry Potter, and the latter happened to Naruto, when it failed to enter the obvious climax of the story and became a shambling zombie of story arcs until most people flat lost interest.

No, successful writing is about two things: pacing and structure. Learn them. Worship them. Don't be a hack just because you might be able to get away with it.

When you fall, get right back up again.
I should have an update in the next couple of days, I'll be stuck at home owing to helping deal with my mother having a minor surgery tomorrow.

I might be able to finish this dive next update, depends on how I'm feeling. Then we'll just have Ion's version of the ending and it's all wrapped up.

EDIT: My mom's surgery went well, update in the next couple of days.

When you fall, get right back up again.
This was getting all kinds of encouraging last time.
I’m even more concerned now, that just screams of something horrible in the works.

I-I know that!! I'll try again!
Buhaaaa!! ...Haah... Haah...
That was 18 meters!
Alright, that's a new record!
That’s great, Nei!/It could just be a fluke.
That response doesn't sound very genuine.
Ugh, this is no good! Why can't I move forward...
Okay... I'll do better next time!
Haah... Haah...
I-I can't go on... I'll die...
You should stop for today.
N... No... I need to do better...

And here it’s coming, she’s going to give up and it’s all going to go awful.

I've been working on this for a whole week, but all I'm getting are muscle pains. I'm not getting better...
This might really be too much for me...
You’re giving up too soon!!
It's not too soon! I've been trying so hard already...
This is enough, I'm going to sleep today. I'll take tomorrow off.

No, no, this is the point in the story where it gets even more uplifting because she’s pushing through adversity with the help of her friends or some crap like that.

You finally heard me!
Magical Giant Girl Piko!? Why are you here?
I'm just inside your memory. I guess you could call this an electronic dream.
Anyway, is it really okay to leave Nei how she is now?
I want her to get it, but she’s at her limit./I can’t help it, she doesn’t have the skill.
Limit, huh? Is this REALLY her limit?
It's true that this might be her limit, if you keep doing things the way you always have.
Nei works hard, but she doesn't have the essentials down. Hard practice doesn't matter... She'll keep failing.
Practicing recklessly and hard work isn't always the right answer.
She's really awkward and doesn't listen well to others, so she won't realize that on her own.
You're the only one who can help her realize her problem, Yumekichi.

Oh man, it totally is isn’t it.

Aaah, I can't swim anymore... I'll drown... Blurg...

Hah yeah, this is where the robot asks her sister for help.

Huh? I guess I'm not bad. I can swim 100m at least.
I want you to teach Nei how to swim.
What? Me? Why?
This is a promise Nei made with Mom on her own. I have nothing to do with it.
Anyway, I have to go. The student council has a meeting today, so I need to be there early.
See you later!

And then she ‘totally doesn’t have time to do it’, wow.

Hmm, not bad at all.
Well Hey, if it isn't Yumekichi. Good morning.
Where's Nei?
She’s not here yet.
Well Haha, I'd guess so. I thought it was still too early for her.
But it's strange to see you on your own, Yumekichi.
I want you to help Nei.
Well Huh? What do you mean?
Hmm, I see.
Sounds like Nei's working really hard. I see her in a new light now.
Well Yumekichi, did you come all the way here just to ask that?
Yes.
Well You really are worried about Nei. I'm kind of surprised.
Yeah, you're a wonderful robot. You're thinking about your master.
Well But still... It's hard to believe that Nei's practicing swimming that much.
Nei's really serious. She really wants to work in space.
Well Hmm... Alright then!
If Nei's that determined, I'll help her get better at swimming.
Your only talent is athletics, after all.
Well That's rude! So? What are you going to do?
Well, of course I support Nei's decision, but I haven't decided what I'll do yet.
Well You're as indecisive as ever.
Thank you both.
It's fine. We're Nei's friends.
Well Yeah. We need to be supportive of our friend.

And now for the friends.
Just one left really.

Huh? What do you mean? You sound worried...
Nei’s practicing swimming seriously.
She is? When did she...
Of course I support Nei. I always have.
You were opposing her and getting mad.
That's true. But I was only doing it for Nei's sake.
Although... I suppose a child wouldn't understand that. But that's exactly why I need to show resistance.
What do you mean?
Well you see... Even if your body becomes an adult, it's still possible to have an immature mind.
Nei, and Aya, are only beginning their lives. It takes a lot of experiences and failures to find your own answers.
But I guess you could call this parental love.
When I see my children running head first towards certain failure, I have to try and stop them.
Even if they don't understand now, I'm sure they'll understand when they're older.
...
Anyway, that's why I don't mind what Nei does, as long as she doesn't fail at it.
As long as she keeps her promise from the other night, I don't mind if she goes to the university in the city.
There's not much I can do to help her with that, but I'll always be supporting her with my heart.

Oh wow, it’s really going that way.

Maki and Sayo went home already today, and even Yumekichi ran off somewhere...
I guess I'll go home alone...
Oh! Yumekichi! Where have you been!?
Let’s go to the pool today!
...What... I'm done with that. I'll take a break for a while.
Now way, why!?
Because I'm not getting better anyway.
You aren’t taking this seriously./That’s not true, keep it up!
That's not true! I'll just take today off! I'll get serious tomorrow! So please!
Neiiii!!
Maki! What's wrong? I thought you had something to do today...
I went home to get this. It's for you.
This is... The limited edition "Beach Bear" from last summer! But this was your treasure...
That's why I'm giving it to you. You're doing your best to swim 50m right? I'm sure it'll be good luck.
Whaaat!? How do you know that!?
...Oh!! Did you tell her, Yumekichi!?
It’s not like it’s a secret./Heh heh…
It's not really a secret, but... It is kind of embarrassing.
It's nothing to be embarrassed about. I think you're pretty admirable. I need to work harder, too.
Anyway, you're going to the pool today too, right?
Huh? Oh, y-yeah!
Do your best, I'll be supporting you! You should put "Beach Bear" by the poolside.
Okay, thanks!!
...
...Hmm. I guess we should go.
Where?
The pool.

So of course when she gets there…
Yep looks like.

A-Aya!? Why are you here!?
I'm here to help teach you to swim, why else would I be here?
Whaaat!? ..Was this your doing too, Yumekichi!?
Aya, why!?
The reasons don't really matter.
But... You know. I couldn't just sit by while my sister was working so hard.
It's annoying, but it's a lot better to teach her than see her crying at home if she fails the test.
Aya... Thank you!
You don't need to thank me. Anyway, let's get started. I only have 1 hour until I need to go to cram school.

I mean this is going to be so much worse than her failing isn’t it?

Alright, that's good! Your legs are floating more now!!
Phew, haah...
Yeah, you're getting better.
But I can still only swim 20m...
You just need to improve little by little. It'll increase, don't worry.
Well Heeeeey!
Sayo!
Well Wow, the sisters both working really hard. This is some beautiful sisterly love!
I-It's nothing like that!
Well Aya, you're pretty cute when you're embarrassed.
Sayo, why are you here? Did you come to swim too?
Well Yeah! I heard that you're swimming every day. I thought it would be fun, and decided to swim too!
And why didn't you tell me? If you did, I would have come to have fun every day.
S-Sayo... I'm not doing this for fun...
Well That's no good! It's that way of thinking that's keeping you from enjoying swimming, you know?
You need to have more fun! You know how time flies when you're having fun?
This is the same thing. If you're having fun, you'll swim 50m before you know it!
I-I don't know about that.

Oh my, I just got it. Yeah, this is going to be so bad.

Well It IS true! Just pretend you're a fish, swimming through a coral reef in the ocean! I do it all the time.
I got it. I'll try doing that!
Well Yeah, give it a try! Let's swim together!
Goooo!!
Nei, I need to go to my lessons now.
Okay, thanks for everything, Aya.
I know I said a lot of things at home before, but I'm sure you'll do fine.
Huh?
That's because you're MY older sister!
Aya...
Well Hey, Nei! Hurry up!
Yeah, I'm going!
Haaah!
Helped and cheered on by everyone, I continued my swimming practice.
This continued every day until the day of my swim test.

In fact I think I need a stiff drink before we finish this.
Yeah, that sounds about right. Let’s take five and pick this up after.

This version of Cass has a seriously bad speech tic, every single line she had in this chapter started with "Well".

At least it seems that things will go well for Nei, she has a lot of support. Can't wait to see it crumble.

When you fall, get right back up again.
Update in the next couple of days finishing the Dive.

Oh and Nights of Azure came out and is a shockingly good action rpg thing for a Gust game. I highly recommend it.

I've also got LOTS of time this month so not only should I be able to wrap the thread up soon, I'll also have time to start something new before the end of the month.

Oh man, this is so endorsed, I love the game. I'm not 100% sure it's worth $60, but it is rather refreshing compared to the Ar franchise (which is a guilty pleasure at best for me.) The action is a bit easy (at least as far as I've gotten, I hear it spikes later), but I'm really enjoying the dynamics of the main relationship and overall it's just making me happy to play. I'm on Chapter 4 right now.

Also I haven't forgotten to em-pyei-n vari-fen jang, I've basically given up on singing the chorus in proper register, I'm out of practice on my highest notes, and it shows. I'm more of a lower alto naturally anyway, and ORIGA...isn't. The issue this past week has been I sort of shouted my voice hoarse at the ALI PROJECT concert at Anime Boston. It was worth it. I'll probably try to do something this week and eventually post even though I totally won't be happy with it.

When you fall, get right back up again.
Sho let’s get this finished!
How the hell is this the result of five minutes?
No idea what you’re talking about, shilly.

???: Alarm set: 4 seconds...
Alarm set: 3 seconds...
Alarm set: 2 seconds...
Alarm set: 1 second...
Ring the alarm.
...N-nnn...
Please wake up!!
...Just... A little longer...
...
...!!

You know thatsh a cute robot, I bet we could bootleg it and make a fortune.

Oh... Right. Today's the day of my swimming test.
I wonder if I can finish the 50m...
...
No, I'll be fine! It's easy.
If I keep my head down, and pretend like I'm swimming through a tropical coral reef...
50m will be over in no time!
That’s right, that’s the spirit!
Okay, I need to get ready.

No way are you actually this drunk, not buying it. You’re just messing with me.
You’re just no fun anymore.

Huh? Is this... A letter on the table?
"I left your lunch box in the kitchen, be sure to take it with you."
"Also, today's the day of your swim test, so make sure you eat breakfast, okay?"
"Do your best with the test. Mom."
...Mom...
Thanks... I'll do my best.

No, I’m not really that drunk. Yet.
Wait what even IS that you’ve got there?

You have that bear charm, so you'll be fine, right?
Yeah, I will! Thank you both.
...Uu, I'm getting nervous.
You can’t fail, don’t worry!/This is the moment of truth.
It doesn't matter if I can't fail. If I can't swim 50m, that'll break my promise with Mom.
If that happens, my life will change completely.
I guess I could say that my work here will decide my fate?
This is like a matter of life or death! At least, that's how it feels...
Don’t worry. You worked really hard.
...You're right. I've been working towards this all this time.
The rest is up to my own willpower!
Alright, Nei Yuuki, you can do this!!

You know I’m not really sure myself. I was importing some stuff from Metafalss and it was just sort of in there.

Today you'll be taking your supplementary 50m freestyle swim test.
This time, anyone who can't swim the entire 50m will fail!!
...Or so you should, but you'll simply receive an appropriate grade.
Anyway, we'll start with the lowest student number first. First up, Aino, Azumi, Ezaki...
Waah... I'm really getting nervous!!
Calm down! I’m here for you.
Y-yeah, thanks. I'll be fine... I'll be fine...
Alright, you're done. None of you pass. Next! Tanuma, Tokida...
Okay, none of you pass. Next! Murasame, Moriguchi...
...Yuuki!
Y-yes!!
Onto the diving platform.
O-okay. Yumekichi, here I go!
I'll be fine. I'll be fine... I worked hard with everyone.
If I keep my head down, and relax like I'm swimming along a coral reef, 50m will be over before I know it...
The bear is watching over me, and Yumekichi is here too...
Ready!!

Well yeah, that’s not in question, where else do you get a weird bottle of green… fluid with Frelia’s face on it. Which is why I get into the question of what it is.
It… well it says it’s all-natural.

I just need to have fun swimming...
...Haah, haah... Haah...
This is... Too much... Haah...!
Mgh... Cough... I inhaled some water...
W-what should I do... This hurts... Haah! My legs feel like poles...
...But... If I put my feet down now... Gah!! ...Cough!!
I can't go on...
Oh no...
Hey!! Nei! Pull yourself together!!
Sayo! I thought you had work today...
I was too worried, so I skipped work. I just had a really bad feeling!
Neiiiii!! You can do it!!
Nei! Do your best!!

Huh this is getting eventful. So you’ve poisoned yourself and Ion’s drowning.
I’ve not poisoned myself! Just to prove it I am going to consume more of this entirely healthful beverage!

I need to work harder... I wonder how many meters are left...
Wait, am I... Not moving forward?
Ouch... M-my leg is cramping... It hurts...
Nei!! This is bad! She's cramping up!
Nei!!
Aya!?
Nei, stop it! You need to stop!! You'll drown!!
Jump into the water and help./Just watch.

Feinne’s Notes:
If you just watch here you create a TIME PARADOX where Aya saves her and she fails and goes to cooking school, which kicks you out of the dive.

Nn... Nnn... A-are you... Piko...?
Yeah! I'm Magical Giant Girl Melty Piko!
...Why are... You here?
I've come to help you. Now grab onto my hand!
Huh? ...But I'm swimming right now...
You aren't swimming. You're drowning, and you're about to die.
I... See.
That's why you need to grab my hand. You've done well enough already. Nobody will blame you for this, Nei.
...
Thank you, Piko. But I'm still fine. I can still swim.
You can't!
No. I can still move my other leg. I might not swim well, but I can still breathe.
I made up my mind. I'm going to swim until the end!
If I stand up now... I won't be able to face everyone who's cheering me on, or my mom...
Nei!!

Um, Mir, important question.
Yes?

...!?
You always thought about me, Yumekichi. You were always putting my happiness first.
Even when I was giving up on the pool, you were working, and trying to make me happy.
You went around to lots of people, asking for my sake. You didn't want me to give up...
The reason I have so much support now, and can do my best, is all thanks to you... Yumekichi.
...Nei...
That's why I can't lose. I need to live up to all the love you've shown me...
Please, let me keep going until the end... I'll be okay. I can still... Keep going.
…Nei, you really are admirable…
Thank you... Yumekichi...
Cough! ...Cough...

The room isn’t ACTUALLY covered in dancing Nyo?s, right?
Not a one.
Okay. Good to know.

Nei!!
You're awake, I'm relieved.
Yuuki! Are you okay!?
...Y-yeah... Um... Did I... Swim the 50m?
Yes, you swam the entire thing. You pass.
...That's great...!
But something bad happened...
...Huh?
Yumekichi is...
Yumekichi...
...!? Right, Yumekichi!!
Yumekichi! This is bad!! Yumekichi isn't moving...
Nei, congratulations.
Yumekichi, are you okay!?
Yumekichi jumped into the water when you were about to drown...
Yeah... I remember. Thanks to his encouragement, I was able to swim the whole 50m.
Yumekichi! Just wait a little longer. I'll fix you right away!
Find happiness…
Don't talk anymore! I'll take you home...
...!? Yumekichi...?
Yumekichi, answer me!? Yumekichi... Hey...
...Yume... Kichi...
Yumekichi!!
System Message: Obtained the thought gem, [Yumekichi's Feelings]!

I mean that’s what you get for drinking mystery stuff with a crazy person on the bottle. How is it by the way?
Actually pretty good all things considered.

My desire to fix Yumekichi only made my determination to go the city stronger.
I studied like crazy, and worked out to build up my strength...
And I managed to get into the university in the city.

So am I hallucinating or did this end in the saddest way possible, with everything going great in Ion’s life before she got space kidnapped.
Sadly that seems to be the case.

Yeah, you studied so much.
Still, I never managed to beat you, Aya. Ehehe...
You're really good at your interests. While I might beat you in general, you're amazing in your specialization.
I know you had to study a lot of things for the entrance tests, but you should focus on what you want now.
Thanks, Aya.
Heeeey!
Sayo, Maki!
Looks like we made it. I'm glad we could see you off.
Why are you both here!?
Why? That's our line! Why didn't you tell us about this!?
Seriously. We almost missed seeing you leave, and saying goodbye.
Yeah, I can't believe you.
Shirotaka!? And Sayuri too... Why are you both here...
Maki told us.
Nei, first off, congratulations. It looks like you managed to move toward your dreams.
Thank you very much!
But actually fulfilling those dreams depends on what you do from now on.
Yeah, I know. Shirotaka, please do your best too.
Of course!
Nei, be well, okay? Once you're settled in, just give me a call. I'll go to see you.
You should study and fix Yumekichi too, okay?

Yeah, wow, this is pretty terrible.

Suginohara's an amazing place, right?
Yeah. I liked it the moment I got there, when I was looking for a place to stay.
There's a long line of big cedar trees at the station. It's like the train is going through a tunnel of trees.
I'll convince your father about this. Don't worry, and just concentrate on your studies.
Thank you, mom.
Bye Nei. Come home sometimes, okay?
Yeah, of course I will.
Also, be sure to come home along with Yumekichi.
I still need to thank him. For saving you.
Aya... I'll fix him, and we'll come home together! Look forward to that.
Yeah!
Anyway everyone, I'll be off!
That day, I began to walk towards a new life.
I'm sure there will still be plenty of troubles. But I know I'll be okay.
All of the people here, and Yumekichi, will always be at my side.
Thank you, everyone. And thank this world, for giving me life...

The worst part is her mom was right, she went off to the big city and something horrible happened.

Yeah, though I don’t think ‘stolen by evil interdimensional jerks’ was on her list of fears.

Shirotaka!
I feel like this was a really important experience.
Me too... It's been so long... Since I remembered what happened in my previous world, so long ago.
It was really, really nostalgic.
Since this is my world, I ended up seeing your past too, but it was really warm.
Ion, you seemed to be living happily in your previous world...
Our world destroyed that. We summoned you to this world on our own accord, and did awful things... Unforgivable.
No, that's wrong. The reason I ended up coming to this world was because of a certain machine I built...
...Anyway, it's all my own fault. Please don't worry about it, Shirotaka.
Also, I've found plenty of happiness in this world too.
There were a lot of painful things, but I've felt even more love.
There's Nay, and Cass, and Delta, and you Shirotaka, and Nelico...
And there's also you, on the other side of Earthes...
The reason I met so many irreplaceable, important people, is because I came to this world.
That's why I have no regrets.
Meeting you in particular changed my life forever, I wouldn't give that up for anything.

Yeah fair enough on that.

No... It's because of the sympathy you had for me that I was able to remember my past.
Your being here was important, Shirotaka.
Haha, I'm happy you feel that way. I'm glad that I was of use to you.
You were very useful!
Melty Piko!
Congratulations Ion, Shirotaka!
It looks like you both managed to find a treasure inside your heart.
A treasure...?
Yes. This world was based on the memories of Nei Yuuki, but Shirotaka's memories were also mixed in, remember?
Now that you mention it. I was able to remember my dreams of the past, and my thoughts for my family.
I feel really warm, I haven't felt like this in a long time.
I-I feel the same way!
A long time ago, I really wanted to run away from home because... I thought no one could truly understand me.
But looking back now, I realize I was only able to journey because everyone's feelings supported me.
Aya... Mother... I'm so sorry. I turned all of our memories into bad ones. I really shouldn't have...
I'm okay now, though. Shirotaka and Piko reminded me of all the kind memories I had deep inside of me...
Those warm feelings have the greatest power among thoughts. It's the power of love!
The power of love... That's wonderful!
Anyway, let's complete the ceremony of acceptance, so you can freely use that power of love!
S-sure!

Seriously though ouch.

I really want to thank you.
Heh, right back at you.
I hope that everyone in the world can eventually feel this way.
Yeah...
Anyway, let's go.
Yes, let's. May even more love overflow from this world...

So is that it?
Huh, looks like there’s one more thing on this. The data’s really corrupt though, it’s going to take a sec.
Then if you don’t mind I’m going to go pass out.

The character design is pretty okay, like there is some skin and boobs and such but it's in clothes that look like human being clothes.

Chapter 4's boss is a bit trickier, and I think part of it is that it's just pretty easy to level up early on and end up ahead of the curve if you're messing around having fun (which I do since the game is in fact very fun to play). I'm just through the chapter 4 interlude, and progress is going to be delayed entirely because I just got the warhammer and it's SO GODDAMN FUN to use.

And thanks, just have fun with it and whatever you end up with will be great.

EDIT: Chapter 5's boss is a pretty significant increase in difficulty and has provoked me to start preparing backup Alraunes for other Decks.
