If they hadn't gone through the whole forcing you to be a dick to Delta at the end of the last phase. Then this whole situation could have been resolved much more reasonably. Plus Earthess could just have interjected with a "trust me" or something and it would not have felt too dumb. Here there was a whole massive thing about reconnecting Delta to Earthes' controller. And everyone just pretends that Earthess has nothing to do with it, while the giant robot is just standing there.
