moths posted:Beast might be an interesting game for the right group, but good luck finding that group because teen revenge powertrip otherkin fantasy is goddamn catnip for wrong groups. Even if the game turns out to be the mechanically best Onyx Path offering, it seems like it's headed in the wrong direction for me - and entirely the right direction for people I never want to sit at a table with again. I agree. Onyx Path need to realize that we have severe mental scars from having to play RPGs with nerds. Clearly, the only responsible thing to do is revamp their entire publishing schedule in order to eliminate things that nerds might find cool. We need our fantasy games about sexy vampires and awesome magical powers to be a safe, nerd-free space; otherwise, all the cool people might start to think that we're nerds.

In all fairness, OP has generally been doing really well at producing high-quality projects -- Demon: the Descent, the NWOD Second Editions, and the OWOD 20th Anniversary projects have all been top-notch. The issues with Beast and Ex3 attracted so much criticism precisely because they're not par for the course.

Mr. Maltose posted:Those other mages that literally worshipThe Global Economy no doubt murk them far before it is a noticable issue. If the Seers, don't get you, the Guardians of the Veil will. If neither order gets you, the hunters will show up, because producing vast amounts of gold out of nowhere is like putting up a huge neon sign that says, "I AM A WITCH, PLEASE BURN ME AT THE STAKE."

Chernobyl Peace Prize posted:The best way to merge the Giovanni with the Samedi and Cappadocians is for the latter two to eat the former. Honestly, all the “independent” clans could go the way of the Ravnos and the setting wouldn’t lose much. They all started out (in 2e) as dumb, offensive stereotypes. There have been heroic efforts to retcon them into something interesting, but there’s a limit to how much you can polish those particular turds. Then again, I prefer Requiem for just this reason, so I’m probably not the target audience here. But if you’re committed to nostalgia over actual quality, why bother to make changes at all? (I know, I know — because Ericsson wanked all over 5e, and the new writers have to deal with the mess he left. Poor bastards.)
