200cc is great for playing with friends and just loving around, but unless you're 2pro2nasty it's gonna be a bitch driving decently

For 200cc you'll probably want to go with a light character and a kart with good handling. I use Black Shy Guy with the circuit special kart (or pipe frame if its the leaf cup since Music Park and Wario Stadium have some awkward turns) and slick wheels.

It seems like the first track of a grand prix has easier AI. I seem to be able to get first on the first track about 100% of the time, by a really good margin. After that the AI kicks up to where you'd expect it to be. IDK. Anecdotal evidence.

Oh jeez I barely triple starred the 200cc special cup. I got lucky on rainbow road. Just 5 more cups to triple star.

Getting 2 stars because I came in second on the last track makes my blood boil lol. At least if I come on second on the second track I can just restart quickly.

I've had this game since release and when I tried to do 200cc Grand Prix I realized I hadn't unlocked it yet (unlocks with mirror mode)

I keep trying to brake and powerslide at the same time like I did in Diddy Kong Racing to give those super tight turns but it doesn't work in 200cc

I'm getting good at 200cc driving and it's more fun than 150cc ever was.

Yeah, 200cc really ups the challenge of the game. It's fantastic. They need to make N64 Rainbow Road 3 laps though. It's over way too quickly and I can't appreciate the music in such a short timeframe.
