Nobody really had any idea what the prequels were going to be, so there's a bunch of interesting jankiness to them. Like Ki Adi Mundi having four wives and seven children.
Or him being the only Jedi Knight on the council in Episode 1, which was then explained as the Jedi just being really lovely and slow at doing paperwork for promotions.

I remember fans arguing before Episode 3 came out about whether Ben Kenobi was a Jedi Master, using dumb poo poo like that to both prove and disprove each other's arguments (Ben told Luke Anakin was a Knight, therefore Obi-Wan was a master / Vader said he left Obi-Wan as a learner, therefore Ben never got to level up from Knight).

Anyone reading the new High Republic comic? How is it?

It's okay - nothing special yet, but it's probably winding up for a longer story. The best character so far is a one-armed Trandoshan Jedi with PTSD, though the book's protagonist (his former apprentice) will hopefully get a good arc since she ends up becoming one of the Lost Twenty.

If they want to use the character elsewhere, they'll just plow ahead and ignore the comic version anyway. They've already done it a couple of times with Clone Wars / Bad Batch retconning stuff from novels & comics, and Poe's backstory had to be hastily patched up after Episode 9 went its own way with it.

I think that's just a hypothetical.

But yeah, if there were any immediate plans for the character they'd likely be off the table for this story, and any major element from the films appearing in a comic in this manner is a good sign that the live action stuff is done with them for the time being.

Marvel's got about half a dozen Star Wars comics running at any given moment, so it's not like they're not being utilized.

I do wonder how much (if any) communication happens between the two companies, or how they feel about stuff like High Republic and High Republic Adventures comics being on shelves at the same time.
