It's great how Meryl straight out tells you where the Nikita is and both of you are still like "cambel help!".

On that note I really appreciate that there are a lot of different marginalized people that usually doesn't show up in popular media in metal gear. Also that, like sniper wolf, they don't all look like a stereotype of their origin because there are always outliers.

This is also true of Foxhound in general.

Oh drat, I never made the Chernoton connection. Also speaking of Snatcher, the Metal Gear Mk II was actually supposed to be in the first Metal Gear Solid!

This is a still from the 1997 E3 Trailer for MGS1, you can see the MK II on the far right :buddy: You can also see an item called a "Kuidaore", which apparently is a term that means eating until you die.

I want you all to know that while talking about how to expedite the like four hours of voiceless text in the beginning of Metal Gear Acid, Grace wanted to have us voice act every character, and I had to threaten to wear toe shoes with sandals all summer to prevent it. You're welcome.

Oh hey that trailer is really nostalgic. A cut down version of it was on my ps1 demo disc and made me really really want mgs1 as a kid. I never got to play Mgs until 2 though. But now, every time I play mgs1 I try to replicate that c4 scene.

:siren:Let's Play Metal Gear Solid Episode 11 - Ghost Hug:siren:

Holy christ we're back, that took forever. And to bring us back, an entire episode of funiculars :frog:

Fun facts for this episode:

-CROWS ARE JERKS AND I HATE THEM. Also birds in general are jerks too.
-It takes me two more episodes to finish the thought about Snatcher's MG MKII and MGS4's MG MKII
-I do NOT get bizarrely into aircraft, Grace is just a damned phillistine when it comes to humans achieving god drat flight. :colbert:
-I honestly don't know what AKB48 is, but Grace is a massive weeaboo/koreaboo, and mentioning them makes Grace angry, so naturally I bring them up whenever I can :v:
-My phone updated during Naomi's five hour back story dump and tried to restart, which is why I tuned out most of it. Grace can sense weakness and preys upon it immediately.

Is this the first beer you're drinking?

Because Sapporo is an amazing beer and it was the first beer ever I actually liked so drinking it every day in japan introduced me to the wonderful world of beer.

Also AKB and all Asian idol groups are the worst thing.

Dan talking about light gun sniper Arkade game made me remember this.

Metal Gear Arkade was actually pretty cool and had actual good fps light gun controls and since your seating position away from the screen was forced the 3D was pretty cool as well. I only played it like one or two times though because it was just Metal Gear Online as an arcade machine.

Erdinger has some really good beers and they are pretty good for getting used to beer in general because wheat beer is absolutely amazing. Erdinger Dunkel was one of the first stronger beers I started regularly drinking and I really recommend trying weissbier or Dunkel from an Erdinger glass tapped by someone who knows how because it enhances the experience and taste a lot in my opinion.

So what do you think of drinking some wheat beers for one of the drinking games?

Dan seems to like wheat beer good enough. And I too think wheat beer is a good introductory beer because it's a lot less bitter than IPAs or pilsners.

Also Mgs2 is one of my favorite Mgs games and the Emma sequence isn't at all bad. I just shot her unconscious and hid her while I cleared out the floors. As far as escort missions go this is by far one of the better ones.

Are we talking about cool japanese crossdressing in this thread now?

The Takarazuka Theater of Hyogo prefecture japan turned 100 years last year and has all that time been doing plays with just female actors.

We also have kabuki that started around the 1600s with only female cast and then 30 years later changed to only male casts and playing a female character as a guy was turned into an artform.
Japan has an interesting history of crossdressing.

I think part of it was to create a waifu for all the teen users of the PSP. They even made her do a music video!

On the other hand, I've read some 70's novels, and many of them deal with the theme of older people being with younger people, and exploring sexuality, so at least it's thematically and era appropiate...

Doesn't mean Kaz and Strangelove aren't huge perverts, of course.

I think the music video thing is just because Paz's Japanese voice actor is Nana Mizuki, a pretty famous pop singer in japan.

There's a quote from Kojima that the music video was essentially the younger development staff just messing around and thought it was funny.

Oh that's why then. It just seems like Nana Mizuki does this kind of stuff in everything she's in.
