It's a bit much but June and July I will be lucky to paint much so I am hoping to push it hard this month. The wizard is thrown in to paint yellow.

The gnomish Mage guy is for the May technical jurnal. I wanted to do a better job with him but tonight was probably going to be the last night I could paint this month so I had to start and finish him up at a tabletop quality.

The shields and banners are a little bland because I have some transfers for them I am going to apply at some point.

i, nesbit37, oath for the month of June 24 Mahud raiders and one camel mounted Mahud king all in 10mm.

The miniatures are all Pendraken Mahdist Camelry, some of which I added green stuff mumakil tusks to the sides of their camels. The king is a Mahdist Camelry unit with the rider cut off at the waist and a pendraken Zulu chieftain attached in its stead with some other minor green stuff conversions added.

Much more modest than last month since I am moving and expect to have a lot less painting time. If I get these done quick ill do some oath additions, probably Dwarven forge cavern water tiles for the technical challenge.

August oath complete! I am claiming both the technical and theme August jurnal challenge (I know you only get points for 1 but I did both, so take your pick for judging), backstory, and the spring cleaning achievements.

Below is the warrior ent Blackened Twig
In the very first battle this ent fought in he quickly found one of his arms ablaze. This frightened all of the ents, but rather than panic and immediately seek water or burn the tree creature fought on. It pummeled the day's foes with burning limbs, losing many branches and leaves to the blaze on its body but winning the day. The battle won the ent the nickname of Blackened Twig, and now it before engaging foes it purposely ignites itself to cause fear and greater damage to its enemies. The other ents think Blackened Twig is reckless and somewhat crazy, though its methods are certainly effective even if the tree seems to heal more slowly and regain fewer of its leaves after every battle.

I would like some sort of solution to figuring out how folks doing multiple Oath additions and failing their last one won't get their entire Oath output for a month wiped out by failing a single Oath. If you (or anyone else) have suggestions, let me know!

This would be great. Since I finished my oath a couple weeks ago I have just been prepping models for the most part and tried out a paint scheme on one other. I am hesitant to start a project beyond the prep stage just because its something I want to oath along with being what I want to work on next. The only thing I can think of to make this work within the current point system is that any oath additions that are not finished must be added to the following month's oath. If you don't oath any additional that month maybe you lose a point? I'm not exactly for penalizing people by taking things away, but if someone does an addition and does another oath the next month it just means they have more they need to get through painting. If they don't oath anything that following month than they basically got credit for failing an oath the previous month.

On a some what related topic, there is a model I want to prep for painting up to the base coat level for next month but the basecoat is two parts due to the nature of the paints I am using. I want to airbrush on a metallic and then do a candy coat on top of that to tint it to a colored metallic. The entire model would be base coated that one tinted metallic color it just takes two steps to get there. Can I do this ahead of time or do I need to wait until the first of September?

For the leaves, is it like the skulls that they need to be 2D painted or is painting modeled leaves fall colors acceptable as part of this?

Oath for November complete! Claiming jurnal for the birch tree ent with fall leaves and the Bugbear Squash Squad.

First up this month is a Birch Tree Ent wandering around in the fall season.

Next up is the Bugbear Squash Squad. Many creatures beyond the more civilized races also celebrate the fall harvest. The Bugbear is no different. Long ago they learned that the fall was a great time to send out squash squads to collect farmers as they labored. The Bugbear Squash Squads venture out to the fields in leather armor adorned to resemble squashes. Yellow studded greaves, lamellar adorned with gourds, and images of fall squashes on their shields. They rush out yelling "Squash!" as they beat them into jelly with their maces and clubs, and one with a sharp implement for skinning when necessary. Here the Bugbears make all of the Human Jam, Halfling Jelly and Elven Marmalade they need to sustain themselves through the cold season ahead.

For next month's oath I am thinking of doing both challenges, but for the tech one I am not sure of what technique I should practice that I am not already. This year has upped my painting, especially my painting speed, but I want to set a different personal goal for next year's competition when it starts in May (assuming the oath thread will continue!). Just wondering of what techniques would be worth trying out next month? Here is what I use generally or am at least aware of, so what am I missing or would be good to focus on:

Used all the time:
drybrushing
layering
basecoating
airbrush basing/priming
layering
shadowing
washing
glazing
TMM (though I could do this better)
greenstuff conversions
gap filling and model smoothing prep
painting from the zenithal light perspective
painting from the general light perspective
basing

use occasionally:
airbrush painting (trying to improve, still suck at it)
feathering
NMM
sculpting major components
OSL
Freehand
making things look wet

seldom use but should use more (I suck at some of these and they frustrate me):
2 brush blending
wet blending
painting from other than zenithal or general light perspective
pre-shading

Haven't tried:
zenithal priming
