Yes but Avalanche hasn't had a bad PC port. Just Cause 1 was okay and 2 was ported excellently.

So it looks like your car never actually explodes and can always be repaired. That's different to most games, except maybe like, Arkham Knight or something; lots of games like this, you just grab whatever car you can. Think I even saw a bit where he expended some scrap to have Chumbucket repair it while it was still rolling.

Yeah, you just get dumped out if it takes too much damage. You can only really die on foot.

(Or if a storm just blows the car up. They can do that.)

I see them as preconfigured versions of the main car. You also use them in some missions/activities.

If you leave the edge of the play field it'll randomly generate storms and terrain as you drive out. Near as I can tell it's going to be entirely a fatal choice to do so, but there might be some achievement or something for "Survive off map for X minutes". As for how random the random generation is, who knows.

The big reason to risk the storms is that they apparently contain large caches of scrap. It's a risk/reward thing.

I watched one where he had to blow up a gate and there was a giant prompt about using the fuel can (AND character dialogue from Chum about using it) but instead he took a good 5-10 minutes of trying to ram through it instead.

If you're like me and you have no willpower and you wanna see what the first hour or so of the game is like check this out. A fairly competent player has the prologue up and roughly 40 minutes of stuff right after that.

I'm glad Chum is so likable considering we're spending so much time with him. I was worried he'd be grating.

If they're smart, they'll do none of this, considering how the Mad Max franchise is blatantly set outside of any sort of timeline. Personally I feel like they did the right thing by doing their own thing, but the fact that it's got a son of Immortan Joe and Gastown makes me roll my eyes a bit.

I'm pretty sure Gastown's mentioned in at least one of the other movies.

What they should do is make sure any appearance of mentioned locations DIFFERS from the movie or previous game version.

There's two crews. Scrap crew is the passive one. Cleanup crew is the one that automatically collects ground scrap for you. Make sure you're not mixing them up.

I think you have to go back to the stronghold to get the scrap also

It can create a bug if you completely upgrade a stronghold before finishing the story, iirc.

Just don't bother investing in the stockpiles until last (and only if you want the achievements, they're otherwise worthless)
