Don't forget that jazz is, like, 9/10ths about musical masturbation and chest beating, showing you can play faster and more intricate than anyone else. A good way to fake that might be to take your melody line ans switch it between different patches for alternating bars. It's also painfully clean, do what ever you can to dirty it up some, maybe try some heroin.
