LORD OF BUTT posted:Okay, a continuity cleanup, whatever. It's probably going to barely even be that. It'll be the mercy-killing of the Ultimate line, a few storylines "resolved" so characters can come back to "normal" (Steve Rogers, a Wolverine, maybe The Watcher or Old Man Fury), and a launching platform for a few attempts at new ongoings. If I had to put money on that only thing that I think will get quietly erased it'll be Black Fury and he'll be replaced by Black Fury because no one cares about Black Fury when you can get the real deal with Black Fury. Meanwhile I'll be shocked if if Thor goes male or Captain Falcon gets demoted. Maybe a few characters will move forward in time, assuming they haven't already (Punisher and Black Widow being Vietnam and 80s cold war).

redbackground posted:Why didn't you just read the last issues of Avengers/New Avengers, if you already made it that far? In slight defense I thought the explanation in later issues didn't really match up with what was shown in the issue referred to. The left behind remains looked a lot more grim than the rest of illuminati just letting Stark out of the cube.

It's hard to tell how literally that cover is meant to be because the Beyonders said that perm-beyonder was a child version or something. It's possible that doom and strange did something to get rid of the other Beyonders (or they just got bored and went away) but perm-beyonder got eaten by Doom again and that's where his power comes from. Perm-beyonder being multiversal could explain why Doom would create a planet out of different realities.

WickedHate posted:"It's a refutation of them just finding another solution" is ridiculous when that's exactly what Doom did. Imagine if the Illuminati worked with everyone from the start and kept looking for alternative solutions instead of defaulting to blowing poo poo up. Dooms solution was blowing poo poo up. He literally blows up a big pile of the remaining universes.

Codependent Poster posted:Nah, it worked. But again, the problem is Doom's ego and the fact that even though he saved reality, he still can't get over that Reed is better than he is. Even when Reed actually failed in comparison to Doom in that Doom saved more people. It didn't work unless Doom yelling "NO" was followed off panel by "-THING BUT NET BOOM SHAKALAKA".

In Secret Wars 5 Doom tosses the Molecule Man box at the Beyonders and seems to be successful in killing them and trapping their power in a giant magnetic tape backup case (or whatever Ribic used as a reference); why then did Doom say NOOOOOOOOOOO back in Avengers 32 or whatever?

hope and vaseline posted:For all the mainstream controversy there was with Manara's Spider Woman cover, I'm surprised the Land stuff with the obvious orgasm porn faces has never gotten attention past blogging sites and forums. Land repurposing porn images into action scenes looks stupid but doesn't usually look abjectly sexual because Land usually uses sex poses that are somewhat athletic in nature and actions them up enough to make it just look lazy and weird. Plus he also uses non porn celebrity references a lot, like Monica looking like Halle Berry or Tony looking like a backstreet boy. Manera took an action shot reference and porned it up, which is what he's good at, and did it on a book which was directly at odds with that.
