I'm betting between Sue's sympathy for Johnny and Strange's line that it's probably the 616 Sue/everyone else with altered memories/mind fuckery. It would seem strange if Doom were recreating Sue from scratch that he'd make Sue love him but then leave her love for her brother that he hates, versus changing her memories of him and Reed but leaving the rest the same to avoid changing too much.

1602 Witch Hunter Angela has some nice artwork and I'm easily sold on getting issue 2. I don't know if I'd call it the best of the week (haven't touched Weirdworld yet, the "Hell's Kitchen" storyline is some pretty stiff competition) but I'd certainly say it was way better than I thought it'd be. Dialogue got a bit too cheesy and hard to read at times but it was still overall readable.

I'm not sure what I expected from Mrs. Deadpool and the Howling Commandos but I don't think I found what the creators of it wanted me to find. Worst of the week for me, but to be fair this week has been pretty great overall.

I haven't read them yet but I picked up Thors, Runaways, Squadron Sinister and OML 2 for today. I think the only one I missed was Armor Wars, which I heard was terrible.

There's also Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars #2. DSSW #1 was decent but I wouldn't make a special trip to the LCS just for DSSW #2.

Haha so they'll not revive wolverine after all but he'll be some other dimension version? That's actually really clever. Ok so I guess I'll look into the series, thanks!

Kinda.

X-23 will take up the name and costume of "Wolverine", and Old Man Logan will stick around post-SW but he's not going to call himself Wolverine and personality-wise he's still pretty distinct from Logan/old Wolverine.

I just want to warn anyone who was thinking about it, don't buy Years Of Future Past. I forgot issue 1 entirely, and issue two features a blank white page with two characters in a corner. A speech bubble from one character snakes around the entire page in void, just doing some kind of pointless monologue. It's awful.

I'm just going to post it here because it doesn't really contain anything spoilery and it's hard to appreciate the horror of that page without understanding that when you say the dialogue snakes around, it goes back and forth across the page 4 times, isn't a plot-important conversation and isn't a particularly good character building moment for anyone involved.

For context, this is Colossus speaking to his daughter as Wovlerine's son/her boyfriend stares on;

I've never been a KSD fan, including on Captain Marvel, but Captain Marvel and the Carol Corps has really grabbed me.

By this thread, guessing I'm the only one. :sigh:

I thought it was okay. It had a metaphorical chess game scene which are always dumb as hell but other than that I thought it is probably one of the better SW books I've read.

I haven't read any of the other books I grabbed today but it's one of the few books where the characters actually try to figure out what's really going on or at least try to do something more than just roll with the punches of whatever wacky world/part of the world they're in, which makes it better for me than most of the other SW tie ins I've read.

I like how in OML Emma tells Logan his legacy and name endures... by introducing him to a character that is about to stop existing because the Ultimate universe is going away and Hudson isn't in anything post-Secret Wars and so the Wolverine name will actually be continuing through X-23. It's nice that he's getting a better send off than Ultimate End, but what we know of post-SW Marvel made the whole thing even more bittersweet :v:.

I was starting to really not care about OML when I thought it was just going to be Logan wandering from domain to domain being a tough dude that cuts stuff, but that last issue was amazing and really redeemed the series for me. Actually makes me kinda excited for post-SW OML, even though Benda won't be on it anymore.

Since the kids look the same as when they were Reed's kids, I assume Doom didn't magic impregnate Sue with Reed's DNA and instead just did a whole bunch of mindwipe/ false memory fuckery.

As someone who cannot wait for Secret Wars to be over so Marvel can be all-ANAD all the time, this was a pretty great week for Secret Wars overall. OML, Siege, SW#6 and 1602 Witch Hunter were all amazing. Spider Island is the weak link, but even then I wouldn't say it was bad, just not particularly noteworthy. It happened, was alright, about as much as I can say.

So do any of the new #1s allude to:

1) Does anyone remember/acknowledge life pre-incursion?

2) Does anyone remember Battleworld?(I feel like I know this is 'yes' but I can't recall any specifics)

1) yes, at the very least Sam talks about Steve's time as Captain and the time they spent working together before Sam became Captain.

2) yes, Tony is surprised to see Doom alive and well, implying Doom should not be alive, and in Uncanny Avengers Johnny alludes to something that happened to Reed and Sue that means they're not around anymore. It could refer to something in the timegap, but I'm betting it's Secret Wars ending related.

Did Marvel ever officially delay Secret Wars Too, or is the sequel oneshot just going to come out before the final issue of the thing it's sequeling?

It's a comedy book.

Well yeah, but I assume that based on its release date, the original release date of SW, etc that it was a comedy book that was supposed to come out after SW fully ended, and in turn some references and jokes will make sense/work better if you actually read all of SW.

The only exception I can think of is to read Siege before Secret Wars #6, I think, because the latter sums up the dramatic conclusion to the former in a couple panels.

Also read Siege before A-Force #3, but that's less important. A-Force wasn't that good and I'd mostly recommend reading it only because it continues on after Secret Wars and it introduces Singularity who is a core member.

Put in my order for the hardcover this weekend. Easily my favorite event book. You can tell that everyone involved, especially with the tie ins, had a lot of fun.

Yeah, the worst I can say is Williamson didn't seem to know what he was doing on Red Skull and Bendis put too much time into Old Man Logan and forgot to think of an ending for Ultimates End.

Is there a story behind this? Cuz it sounds hilarious.

Greg Land is an artist notorious for tracing his art from other sources.

Sometimes, it's his own art.

But often it's just random poo poo he GIS'd http://www.bleedingcool.com/2015/07/28/good-luck-finding-greg-lands-latest-references/

There's some quote out there about him saying he uses "reference images" including softcore porn to help him draw. I don't know about the "softcore" part.

Basically, dude absolutely traces stuff and it's really obvious if you read a lot of his stuff and look at the poses the women will randomly strike for no real reason.
