The problem with actually trying to do protection/extortion racket is that well has been poisoned for over a year now. CODE. has been selling their permits for 10m a piece since 2012. Gankers, collectively, have been aggressively extorting and ransoming freighter pilots, convincing them to accept duels, eject from freighters, eject their cargo, only to turn around and kill them the next moment for about 16 months now. So it's pretty hard to convince someone they'll actually be safe if they pay you, they always try to shorten the terms of payment / protection, and then they still get mad when someone not you ganks them and then stop paying. It's easier just to gank them and run and cons / scams / rackets as a side venture. I've got one contract going on a guy. He paid us 1.6b for 2 weeks protection, and the fact that he hasn't gotten ganked yet is utterly baffling to me, but at least he's due for another payment in a couple days.

No one seems to touch them and I think we're probably one of the only groups that could coordinate it.

I'm sharpening my sabres to start harassing people. I haven't quite figured out a personal doctrine yet. I'm thinking something like sabre/cynnabal/daredevil/boosting tengu. I want a team that can be a pain in the rear end to enemy fleets but also effortlessly chew up any svipuls that I catch. Idunno. Someone smarter than me help me out here. This whole war is supposedly being bankrolled by IWantISK, which is a literal online gambling site that skirts the issue by using in game currency versus actual dollars/euros/whatever. However, since PLEX is an actual item that can be purchased with real currency and redeemed for ISK at the market rate, how is that any different from the old shady online poker/casino/gambling websites that the government went after something fierce in the early 2000's? You essentially deposited money in some shady offshore account and you would have credits deposited in your gambling account (which were then notoriously difficult to turn back into real money and cash out). Since this game is full of space lawyers and real ones (including our glorious leader), how is it that this hasn't been pointed out to  yet? And if is aware of it and unwilling to shut them down, why haven't the proper authorities been notified about these online illegal gambling websites? I'm sure the amount of buttmad and rage that would fly because we space lawyered their financial backing out of existence would be the ultimate salt mine.

Not sure if there are still active schemes) that reward players with ISK for buying stuff via their affiliate links, thereby generating cash for the "ISK seller".
