Clearly you need to stop shooting and score some goals by not shooting and goal scoring.

Started looking at HUT, NHL 2016 on the ps3. Is there any way to change the game length in single player? I can't spend hours playing 20 min periods.

Umm after you select your jersey\accept opponent, the next screen says change lineup\settings.. it should say 4mins and you can't change it. When you are in game, it shows 20mins, but it's obviously shortened, but the overall game should be 15-20mins, not per period.

Yeah? Man I feel pretty stupid. I tried a game yesterday and thought the countdown was hella slow so I just unlugged my ps just to not record the loss. Btw, I had about 10 or so packs in my store, I've opened maybe 7-8 and have a full NHL roster now, though my consumables are full - should I wait with opening the rest just to make sure I got contracts to spare? Amd thank you for the answer!

I know at launch on PS4/Xbone the default setting for periods online was actually 5 minutes and then they patched it down to 4. Maybe the patch never hit old consoles?

PS3 is that Legacy Edition game which is technically a different product and probably has some oddities to it vs NHL 16 on PS4 (aka not getting the same patches at the same time, etc.)

Yeah, any info I find in guides etc doesn't really correspond to what I'm doing on the screen. Not sure why I'm playing it instead of reg season or gm mode but it's probably because you open packs. EDIT: Should I wait to open the free packs I get just to have contracts and training cards in the future? 8-Bit Dracula fucked around with this message at 18:07 on Feb 2, 2016 |

NHL 16 is on sale for like $26 on PSN for cheap for anyone who has friends that might be interested.Soft Shell Crab posted:Open the packs. See what lovely players you get. See the money grab scheme. You would just buy\sell your cards once a collection is done and move on to the next. 8-Bit Dracula posted:Yeah, any info I find in guides etc doesn't really correspond to what I'm doing on the screen. FYI I think HUT has 2 free packs right now for everyone due to the All Star game special if you haven't claimed it already, just goto the store, it should appear for $0 or something like that. 8-Bit Dracula posted:Yeah? Use https://www.huthq.com/16/collections/ to manage the collections to know what you collect\need to collect. You need to create a login account which saves the checklist information. Believe it or not, HUT becomes pretty addicting due to the multiplayer aspect of it which be a pro\gm does't have. I find those modes boring as hell personally. Here's the NHL collections - cheapest to most expensive: http://nhlguides.net/nhl-16-cheapest-to-most-expensive-nhl-collections/ If you're into online play\competitiveness\leveling, I'd recommend making an effort and giving the mode a try. lol internet. fucked around with this message at 21:50 on Feb 2, 2016 |

I basically just play off-line HUT and built a team of all Miami alumni plus Dylan Larkin and Luke Glendening because Gary Steffes doesn't have a HUT card and Austin Czarnik, Riley Barber, and Blake Coleman aren't in the game.

lol internet. posted:NHL 16 is on sale for like $26 on PSN for cheap for anyone who has friends that might be interested. Thorough post, thanks! I enjoy the collecting aspect and having a goal other than playoffs , SC title etc but the mode suffers from a slow interface as well as a small playerbase on the ps3. I haven't been able to find players to play against, but maybe that's because of my location (and I haven't tried that hard tbh). I got 13 free packs from the start and I have an entire NHL roster and a couple of 86-87 players (Ryan Callahan). You can't sell the players you get in the free packs, atleast not for coins. It's a good way to get to know the teams and the players however so I might spend some time with it.

Yeah, that is true. The mode is just so underwhelming to me in most aspects. After how many years they have made it you would thing it would be more interesting mode but it's just them pushing new cards, interface and auction house that are pain in the rear end and getting any sense of achievement other than maybe building your favorite team is hard to come by. Winning all the divisions and getting the trophies doesn't feel like you have achieved anything. You are just playing random people. If they could have incorporated some kind of league system where you actually play same people and teams then it could be something. Even the leaderboards suck because for some reason number of wins is the most important stat so those who have played most games are on top even if they have terrible win rates.

I'm fine with saying it's fixed.

What's the jury on be a pro/live the life? I got burned bad last year by the poo poo single player modes, and I'm extremely hesitant to buy this game, but they did reintroduce the mechanic where you can start as a 15 year old in the minors and work your way to the draft, which was a ton of fun in 14. Does it work at all?

I played one season as LW sniper on superstar difficulty starting from the draft and this was my experience. Other lines than yours (and the line that plays against you) score and get scored about once per game but sometimes they get really crazy and score twice. Playing as a winger was bad choice from defensive perspective as your center is completely out of it most of the game and your line will let in on average three to four goals per game. This means your line has to score about five goals per game to win the game. You basically have to break Gretzky's point record to make playoffs but you still end up minus player because of your powerplay points.. At the end of the season my player had 99 wrist shot but about 80 on all the skating stats because all my experience points went to shooting and passing with no way to change that. I don't know if that was any help to anyone but you still should choose any other position than winger to keep the scoring against your line down if you end up playing the mode.

Yeah, I was planning on doing a center if I got the game, because I'd heard that as a winger, you get a game goal to tie up on a faceoff which you can't get, and it ruins your team grade. And those letter grades are weighted way more than stats when it comes to your draft position. I just don't know if I trust the mode to keep me engaged in it. I've heard even if you turn the simulation penalty off, you can't really get by without playing basically every game. In 14 I played one 1 of every 5 games for 3 years with Halifax, and by the draft I was pushing 90 overall and was the 3rd overall pick, which was perfect. It also kept my stats sane since I wasn't putting up 4 points every night like I did in all the games I played personally. Could you see yourself playing a whole career that way in the game, or throughout a career do the flaws in the game just push you away from it?

You can still get team play points as a winger getting in lots of hits and taking quick shifts, you just can't progress your coaching instructions past the point where he asks you to do faceoff-related things. You don't get penalized for not being able to fill the coach's instructions, you just don't get a bonus, either. If you don't get hits or fights, though, it's really easy to tank your team play if you take a penalty or make a bad call for a pass or two, since teamplay basically consists of physical play, quick changes, and faceoff wins.

Did it though? Because when I'm playing Rocket League, my ping hovers around the high 30s/low 40s and I can download poo poo at like almost 2 megs but when I'm playing EASHL every 3rd game is choppy as gently caress and I'm rendered to a useless piece of poo poo that skates around in circles
