How the gently caress does Gallia's military even function considering everyone in it is horribly corrupt? :psyduck:

I do not think anything in this game series has ever displayed much of a sense of any actual tactics or strategy.

I mean 'Hey, maybe we make a feint and then slam them from the flank' is treated as groundbreaking genius tactics and not a normal thing a military academy grad would think of.

It reminds me of the Warhams (and honestly a lot of science fiction and fantasy) wherein you are constantly told a character is an amazing officer and strategist, and their strategy boils down to 'I wanted to win really bad, so I won. I don't really suggest losing, that's a bad move'

This is basically generally the level of strategy on display in a lot of military fiction and it's hilarious.

Caiaphas Cain, yes. He's simply a competent morale officer and liaison who understands winning is often his only chance to live. The books aren't great, but by Warhams standards they're at least funny.

And yes, I can buy Kurt so far. He's trying to make the best of a bad situation and keep his head, and I can appreciate that.

Alfons is nicely balanced by being a hyper competent detective with getting whipped by Leila all the time. Plus while this scene is practically a page out of most Detective manga/TV/movie scenes in it's execution Alfons is putting the nails in a Gallian Noble so it's hard not to enjoy him getting his comeuppance.

It's also nice to see he occasionally makes allowances, like covering for Deit so that he wouldn't face the firing squad by saying 'Yeah, we totally sent this guy out to scout.'
