Cathro's a great get for Newcastle. Nuno Espírito Santo has called him a genius and attributed a large portion of Rio Ave's and Valencia's success under the both of them to his training and input. Apparently he used to study the next weeks opponents thoroughly and design a training schedule for each player for what they will be tasked with doing in the next game. I don't know if this is now a common thing at all top clubs, with all the money involved, but it doesn't seem liek a Carver type of method.

I've been following the guy for a while and hoping to see him make the jump to manager soon, although he's still young as gently caress. Best testament I've seen to his coaching ability and ability to grow young players is that when he was 22, he started a youth training camp for young kids in the Dundee area. He had 16 kids all in, 12 are now playing professionally and one of them was Ryan Gauld.

You scoff but Newcastle haven't lost a single competitive game in the month of June. Undefeated.

Liverpool are looking to get Sean Driscoll to become Liverpool's new first team coach under the new Rodgers System. Is he likely to give up coaching the English U-19s?

Rodgers liking him already makes me a bit wary.
