Oh, holy poo poo. I just happened to see this on the Games front page and the title immediately made me think "Is that the game I read that awesome LP about ages ago?", and it turns out it's EVEN BETTER news than that! I'm totally buying this when I get home. I won't be able to install it for awhile (20 GB over my current tin can connection is a bit much), but I'm happy to support the developer in their initial attempt at such an ambitious project.

this game is pretty brutal, I don't see how some of these fights in some of the year 2 excursions are winnable. maybe they have special conditions I don't know about because they aren't announced Also is there a Quest Log or anything in this game?

So far I'm having a fun time with Wuxia. I only did the bit with Guardian Qin so far so I'm not too far into the game yet. The biggest problems I'm having with the localization is stuff like the size of UI elements, the big names won't fit in the spaces given and the game will start shrinking text to try and do so and it can make some text illegible. There's two cases of getting text codes inside the text (trading in the sword you get from giving the injured man the 5k medicine to the blacksmith has [ bFF000] and in Luoyang there's a <Br> tag) and quite a few minor spacing issues. Also choosing the fate of who Guardian Qin was chasing in the burning house had a third option that sounded like a mistranslation (Let him burn / release him from the acupuncture hold / Put the vase down??). I'm enjoying being a useless kung fu dude and letting everybody else do the hard work!

Picked up the game, was very excited to use the old LP to guide me through... And then there's a whole new prologue segment! After the initial fight an old lady asked me to get her a chicken, I said OK, and found a chicken. Said chicken then proceeded to kick my face in. The game does a pretty good job of showing your dude as just a regular dude at the beginning. 10/10 would get Zelda'd by chickens again.

Getting your rear end kicked by a chicken and hiding in a corner to recover HP is the best induction to this game

Jesus christ the translation whiplash in this is really bad at times. It seems like 3 people translated a single conversation: it goes from using the term shifu, to Master, to priest to describe the same person in a matter of a dozen sentences. Like seriously there are some portions where it is just babelfish gibberish almost edit: seriously this poo poo is getting ridiculous. Some follow up quest text isn't translated so I have no idea what the last ingredient I need is as I cannot remember and it is just in Chinese MotU fucked around with this message at 08:35 on Apr 29, 2016 |

As far as I can tell, grinding hunting is a really good idea. It nets you cash and when you get to a decent level you'll finish every trip with a big bag of antlers, gall bladders and tiger penis which you can then make your character eat for a fairly solid string of permanent upgrades. It'd prolly work well if you focused on any quickness based fighting style. Edit: obviously if you get to a bit where you control a character then you should never ever finish it early. Use every bit of time you have available. King Doom fucked around with this message at 09:20 on Apr 29, 2016 |

it feels nice to get to a point where the tables are turned on the enemies and now you are the one 3 shotting things and non-stop recovering health. I am sure I am headed for a rude awakening fight soon enough but I feel overpowered now and that is nice

What's the maximum cap for stats? and is there a list of what martial art each weapon is used for? I have a stack of swords but I can't find anywhere that tells me if they are regular swords or broadswords.
|
# ? Apr 29, 2016 12:21 |

Everything except Health, Energy, Attack, Defense, Martial Knowledge, Reputation, and Morals seem to cap at 100 I think some broadswords either have the word "Blade" in their description or name whereas Swords usually say Sword. This is not always true because nothing in the translation is consistent at all

Mining. Holy poo poo, mining. I go from a 70 defence set of armour to a 250 defence one thanks to a lucky treasure chest, then I dig up another chest that has armour that gives 280 defence and 10% counter.

Some talent seem raise some cap to 120. Board sword/saber are usually wide while normal chinese diao/sword are very thin.

Eat the deer horns, gallbladders and penises, sell the rest unless you feel like grinding cooking. Edit: Jesus gently caress, the chest puzzles are loving ridiculous! They go from 'make all the tiles match there's one colour that doesn't fit' right to 'I hope you can see in four dimensions because the solution here is to create a triangle made from three right angles' with no middle ground! DrManiac posted:So are there any plans to go over the translation/ ui stuff later? Some of the stuff people have been posting sounds really immersion breaking I doubt they can really 'go over it' since about 95% of the translation has some sort of issue with it, even if it is small. I would say like 10% of it so far is nigh-gibberish, 15% is misspelled Google-translate, 45% non-Native speaking broken English, 20% bad Grammar English, 5% good translation and 5% the word Bro
|
# ? Apr 29, 2016 23:48 |

That's a higher ratio of usable English than I was expecting, although I suppose that 10% only has to be in the right key places to completely throw the entire thing off.

So useful poo poo for those who are starting: When creating your character your stats will be randomly rolled. The only stat that I've found to be hard to improve through in-game means is comprehension, so I would roll until that starts high. You also roll your 3 talents. Your first talent will always be Industrious or Smart. This will affect which stats lower/raise mood. Your mood determines which events can trigger and the rate of exp you gain. Your second talent will give you bonus stat gain when training poo poo. Your final stat will give you bonuses based on your alignment (E.G. Chivalrous +damage for doing good poo poo). The game is broken down into 3 parts. Maprunning: You will run around talking to people, completing quests, and basically trying to get gear/kung-fu poo poo. Combat: Self-explanatory. As a note, the way you handle combat and which characters you attack or don't allegedly have an effect on the story. Dating Sim Stat Management: If you've ever played a stat-management dating sim game, you know what this is. You have 10 energy to spend each day, use this to train and build relationships with other characters. In the first village at point you will be offered 3 pellets for perma buffs. Scarlet gives you +50 Attack. Purifying gives you +200 HP. Taiji gives you +200 energy. My tips: Always save before going hunting, there's a bug that when you kill an animal it won't dissapear so the next wave will never spawn essentially ruining the rest of the hunt. Never leave a maprunning part early. Worst comes to worst. Spam a random trade skill for money and stats. Invest in your Internal Skill that you get at the start of the game. The extra HP is critical to not dying in every fight in one hit.

So here's my stupid newbie questions on starting the game out, and I figure it probably won't matter too much in the long run, but it's bugging me. Once I'm in the Valley and the new disciple and all that good stuff, should I just be doing training until the daily events pop up, or should I be hunting up any extra event stuff the moment I unlock the stroll option and more places to go to? I'm sort of leaning towards 'just train my balls off, because that Guardian Qin stuff pushed my face in', but I'm like, kind of worried if I don't do the exploring I'll miss something important before going to Luo.. Whatever, the city for the birthday party.

I got my starter internal to ten, then I recommend stroll->either chores or profession repeat. Strolling leads to events which have really good rewards, give relationship, or cool stuff. Also, as a note, painting gives a really good internal, gives HP Regen+a bunch of stats.

Birthday Party So, when the chick attacked me I didn't hit her for only two turns (specifically she attacked me twice) and then the fight was over. However, I still got the manual. Is this a patch fix? I thought it was one or the other. Is it possible that this is because I had a random event with her when I was Strolling in the woods?

I think you need to survive for four turns literally without moving or doing anything at all, which honestly seems impossible considering her second attack will be right into your back and is usually a crit for more health than you have available. Edit: Okay, does anyone know where the clues are for the Hanghzou (I think that was the name of the place) murder mystery are? I found the one from the guy next to the questgiver, the one from the little girl and the one from the guy in the security escort building but now I'm stumped. Just got my first ending Prime Minister Don't know why the (ending path spoiler)Duke Cheng Rebellion failed and he got executed. Maybe I missed some quest flags? The last fight on that island (that I won) was loving insane and awesome though. I also got individual ending slides for every stat I had at 100 and whatever girls I knew, which was weird since I not only formed Doctors Without Borders with Shen Xingyuan but I also married Qi Li? Sure okay. Also became the GOD OF COOKING AND THE GOD OF WINE. Real good, fun game that could benefit from a better translation and also some indication I was on an ending path because I did not know that the game was coming to a close with that whole string of events. Are the ending paths and the stuff leading up to them wildly different or will I be on different sides and junk depending on what I do? I assume so, because there are a ton of plotlines unresolved or continued and it is kinda weird that that just ended it so abruptly. That last fight on that island though. Freakin' great Also do I not get New Game+ stuff for that ending? That seems strange
