It ends up being much better than the pilot gave me reason to believe it would be. And I loved the pilot. So, yeah I'd say it's worth watching if you liked the pilot even a little.

Same here.

I liked the pilot a lot and then I though "well let us see if it keeps it". Instead it got better. I am now recommending this to everyone I know, best TV Ive watched in a while.

Season 2 is about to begin inst it?

The one thing bugging me is that, after the hugeness of the attack, every government in the world would probably have every single agency after those responsable and there is no way they woulndt have a clue about Elliott and the others yet (and they are not being very careful at all)

Also, one thing that is not clear to me: did they wiped just all debt in the world, or all financial records? Assuming is even possible to erase the former without erasing everything

It could be that neither the dog nor the burning are real, that Eliott sees the patients around according to their craziness or something (she is really a pyromaniac, the guy has an imaginary dog friend, and Leo really is obsessed by Seinfeld). And maybe whatever that the dog guy is trying to convince him into doing is an escape plan from the institution.

oh god, you guys sold me into asylum theory, but I still hope is not true

Maybe I'm just completely oblivious to a ludicrous degree, but I watched season one going in blind and just went with the flow, never putting in any thought as to whether Elliot was Mr. Robot, even though he asks that specific question in one of the early episodes, if I remember correctly. Like, I guessed that was a possibility, but there was always some other story or urgent thing going on that was in the foreground so I didn't really think about it.

Then I started that episode with the cold open where Darlene and Angela are taking a ballet class together like they were longtime friends, and it was like slamming on the brakes. I thought to myself "Wait, what is this" and started scrutinizing everything after that

I only watched s1 a few weeks ago, and had it spoiled for me by the person who recommended it to me, who said "there's some crazy tyler durden poo poo in this show". He never said who it was, but when you are looking for a tyler durden situation, is very easy to notice all the hints during all scenes with Mr Robot (the way nobody seems to react to what he says, even when he being loud; the way nobody talks directly to him or even looks directly to him when Elliot is present etc). I also guessed he was his father in that scene when he throws Elliot at the stones

But I never guessed that Darlene was his sister, so there was still this twist for me. And I really liked how it changes her character completely but it without feeling artificial. Because at first she is just like the crazy free girl who takes a lot of liberties and forces intimacy with some guy he just met, and her character feels natural and her scenes works. And then she was actually his sister all along and still her character and her actions feels natural and her scenes still works.

Someone said above that "tyler Durden" is now a somewhat overused trope but they handled it pretty well and it was good, and I agree 100%

I knew the show was popular on digital but god drat.

That reminds me of something Ive asked earlier but nobody answered: is there any legal way to watch this show outside the USA?

I suppose its ratings would increase tenfolds if you add all the people all over the world pirating it. Last week I searched for a way to watch the premiere and pay for it and could not find any, cause I live in south america. We got netflix here but no hulu. Amazon Prime has it but will not allow it to non-american customers.

How can the scene with the fat man and the beaten programmer guy could be explained inside institution theory? If Elliot is inside and institution, so is he. And Elliot could not be imagining that scene, since he wanst on it. I am now 100% convinced that it is bullshit

Episode was maybe a bit slow, but good. Elliot walking around tripping like hell was awesome, Elliot eating the pills from thew vomit, Elliot meltdown at the church group. Its a great character and the actor is really killing it.

I think the thing that's harder to believe if this was all reality is him getting the journal from the trash. That makes a lot more sense if the Christian meetings take place within the facility.

The show specifically hasn't shown us any other main characters meeting Elliot except for his psych and Gideon and we know how those meetings were odd-looking. I think when his sister shows up it'll be a big moment.

Hmm, yes, you are right. Still, I dont believe it. And I hope is not true, cause it would make his scenes walking around the streets completely high less cool

Ok, and I guess is also still possible that Leo would be selling pills inside the institution (maybe he steals from the place pharmacy).

But how come Elliot got to stay 5 days without sleep and clearly shitfaced all the time, vomiting all over the place, without any doctors or nurses bothering him?

It's very different to the first season. I love the paranoia of all the characters - the feeling that the audience is being deliberately kept in the dark on major plot points really works well with all the main characters being in danger in multiple ways. As much as I want to scoff at the mental institution theories there is reasonable doubt that what we are seeing is actually happening the way it is presented, particularly given the 'twist' of the first season and his monologue at the start of this one. It's all well-paced and not rushing to a conclusion. Loving it.

I particularly like the new FBI lady, we know very little about her so far. Feel like she could end up in cahoots with the hackers - perhaps she comes to see that the 'disgust' she feels is better directed upwards than down at the people she's hunting. Although this is less likely with the end of the last ep.

I agree with all this. Im loving this season. The one thing that bugs me a bit is that they talk about the 5/9 like a huge event that broke the world, but then that's not what we see. Most of the time everything seems to be going on like always

Also, after this ep Ive jumped off the institution boat. There's Darlene apparently talinkg about their mother and, more importantly, its really hard to make sense of Ray and the final scene in thew episode this context

If the institution theory falls through and everything is as it seems, then the first 5 episodes of weird build-up about where he is just became wasted potential. We're to then believe that his actual mother is just hanging out around the house with no interaction at all with anyone? Why does his therapist's room now have an odd light fixture in it (similar to his house) that wasn't in the first season? How convenient it becomes that Ray "knew the chaplain" at the group meetings and got Elliot's journal. Why is the diner so institutional with its cafeteria lines?

Why do all of this just to say, "nah, it was all real."

Ok, those are good points, but IDK, I guess we have to wait and see

I disagree. Its well directed and Im interested in all plots going on. Its slow, but slow can be good. Im watching it because its enjoyable to watch and intriguing, not just because I want to know how it ends.

Compare it to GoT last season, for example, which is the exact opposite: just plot points being hit one after the other, like checking off items from a list, all character motivations are artificial and forced just to arrive at the next plot point. Its loving awful

The big question or plot-driver in S1 was "Will f-society hack Evil Corp and put the financial system in meltdown?"

They answered it within S1, which itself came as a surprise to me because I was worried they'd try to drag that plot on to the second season.

Second season is about the fallout and the repercussions of the culmination of S1, which again is something I haven't seen done like this before - a world-changing event happened in the end of season 1 and they are picking up exactly where that left off. E.g. that guy running the convenience store is going out of business because there's only cash and the government is rationing cash.

I'm just trying to explain why I'm not frustrated at all by the pacing of season 2, because to me pacing is not just about things happening to the world of the show.

This is also why the comparisons to Lost fall apart to me in every way: there's clearly more thought put behind the story here, the characters are a mile deep and an inch wide instead of the other way around, and the show isn't crapping out new mysteries to solve without dealing with earlier plot threads. The equivalent of Mr. Robot would've been for everyone to get off the drat island at the end of the first season.

This exactly
