The pilot is to introduce a ton of plothooks, not pay them all of. That's what a film does.

Dead Snoopy posted:If they paired this show up w/ Silicon Valley it would be an amazing hour of tv. Kumail as Spencer, Dwayne as Dinesh. You listening HBO? TELL me you wouldn't want to see The Rock spoil his cousin's kickstarter, or The Beta Male handle Ricky. Maybe swap an actor an ep so Jack Black is Gilfoyl.

physeter posted:Also kind of interested in the flashback Spencer keeps having when he wakes up in a cold sweat, now in a couple eps including the opening scene of the season. The QB he sacks doesn't move. Did he kill/cripple the guy or something?

He LOANED Vernon the money. They've said repeatedly that Spencer was hired for his connections, and Joe seems to be the only one at the firm who likes him. No protagonist on the show is particularly good at their job (unless it's Football).

The show DID start with a fatal car accident. The Brink is excellent at getting characters into and out of poo poo, of their own and other's design. On Ballers, nearly every problem could be solved with honesty, which makes the characters assholes. Which Cordry can pull off.
