There was a demonstration yesterday in Gothenburg by the neo-nazi Nordic Resistance Movement. They gathered some 500 Nazis that were supposed to march past the local synagogue, but got stopped by police and boxed in. Culture in the Soviet Union from the 1930s onwards was just a state-mandated rehash of the same bourgeois "high culture" that the inherently reactionary party leadership considered acceptable, while any truly spontaneous and popular culture was restricted or banned.
