It my experience it's exclusively mentally unstable jack-offs. One of my friend's dad died a few years ago, they weren't on the greatest terms because he was kind of a nutball, and me and a couple others volunteered to help clean out his house. In between the literal trash bags full of cat feces we found over two hundred bolt action rifles, 3 dozen modern semi-autos, and about a dozen full autos of various types. Guns were bundled into rugs in groups without regard for variety, condition, or any organization that we could figure out.

Yeah there's nutballs, but having been in a private room (actually an underground bunker) that looked a lot like that pic, there's also just guys who like guns and have way too much money. In this case it was a very, very rich guy.

I'm poor.

I think you are misunderstanding the motive of our political and military institutions. It's continual failure to rebuild other bombed out nations is at least partially because that isn't the motive. Typically the motive of a colonial war is to extract wealth, not deposit it. Further, this tendency is exacerbated by an emphasis on strip mining resources as opposed to investing in them for future returns. What good is a functioning economy in the Middle East to America's oligarchy anyway? There may be a broad benefit, but not one that is sufficiently relevant to the elite.
Reconstruction fails because America's presence artificially distorts the economies and political systems of those countries by its very nature. The billions in aid is redirected into the pockets of indigenous elites who become very powerful as a result. When the drip stops, the whole system unravels, which precipitates more American involvement.

The Pentagon pumped money into Sunni tribes in Iraq, effectively bribing them to stop fighting. After that stopped and Iraq reverted, the tribes invited ISIS in as leverage, so now the U.S. is back. After the drip stops in Afghanistan that place will unravel too.

Basic problem is that there were few photographs, no videos and a bunch of contradictory eyewitness accounts that all contradict each other. Some say Stonewall was full of black drag queens. Others say they only let a select few drag queens in (who they knew) and the crowd was mostly white. Some say Sylvia Rivera started it, some say Marsha Johnson, some say it was "some guy." Some say a butch lesbian named Storme DeLarverie. Nobody's got a clue.

But the main reason we don't know is that, at the time, it was a minor disturbance, one of many around the country (not the only one involving LGBT rioters, in fact, and also a blip of a riot by late-1960s standards), that only later became the basis for commemoration, so few people bothered to record it outside a few alt-weeklies.

As Stonewall was later mythologized by gay activist groups and very deliberately so, it took on greater importance, and as there's ongoing political conflicts within the GLBT movement, how Stonewall is interpreted becomes subject to political adjudication.

Cue bunch of random poo poo:

I'm going to be a pedantic rear end. This is indeed shocking but I remember looking at Mexican and other Latin American newspapers and seeing much worse on a regular basis, like bloody chunks from someone who got hit by a train ... and that was just for a "man hit by train" story on some back page. Like I said I'm a pedantic rear end.

Pile o' corpses on a front page example :nws: from Venezuela: http://saladeredaccion.com/revista/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/Imagen-17.png

But this whole thing has got me feeling we're more and more living in a hallucinogenic and psychedelic cyberpunk society.

Still not seeing the tragic human cost that can be attributed to environmental activism. Sure some of them are crazy, but even the most extreme cases--sabotage of pipelines, for example--seem to stem from major players doing real and tangible harm to the well being of the activists and/or those they sympathise with.

Then you're making a moral argument as to the propriety of sabotage for environmental ends. (That's fine.) But the FBI's job is to hunt down people who break federal laws.

Another factor is that while environmental and animal rights extremists don't kill people (though they can be dangerous to people), they're highly active when it comes to sabotage and the like. And they tend to be well educated, smart, dedicated militants who are very good at staying low, they operate across state lines, etc. Local and state police departments are not equipped to handle them so the FBI gets involved.

Sovereign citizens are really the worst of both worlds. They're highly active and also kill people. So obviously they're #1 on the list right now.

Having said that those ballistic face masks are p cool. Supposedly used to protect during breach-and-clears in tight, favela environs. Can take high caliber shots and such.

Now, perhaps someone could answer me this: We know the GOP establishment hates Trump, but why I ask? It is my theory-crafting that they hate him because he makes GOP donors (banks among others) nervous, as he is unaccountable to them in the traditional ways they control politicians and could go in very unpredictable directions politically. In short, I think this is about money, not votes, or even control of the WH since it seems to me he could well defeat Clinton. That's just my 5-minute no thought analysis though, so I'd like to hear some theories.

I have no horse in this race (neither do you, whether you realize it or not), but I consider disruptions of established power structures to be a net positive.
It could be a combination of both. Big GOP donors who are warring with Trump behind the scenes consistently say that he will lose the general election to Hillary, and the polling shows that he fares worse than most other Republican candidates in a matchup.

Trump is the Bernie Sanders of the GOP race. Both of them have dedicated, cult-like followings and capture 30 percent of their respective parties. But for the Democrats, Hillary dominates the other 60 percent, while the Republicans are divided.

Deaths from terrorist attacks

I gotta admit ... I'm skeptical at this because how do you define a terrorist attack differently from war? The Boko Haram insurgency is defined as terrorism, but the 1970s have practically zero terrorist attacks (in this chart) although there were no shortage of bloody brushfire wars. The Viet Cong was basically a terrorist movement that assassinated quite a lot of people, exploded bombs in Saigon, etc.
