I still say it's fun to go back into the older threads and see just how goddamn far we've come. Especially the old 1.0 threads, full of despair. http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3353297 - original retail thread, the dawn begins to break on page 62. http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3433215 - Yoshi-era 1.0, ends when the servers go down. http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3516878 - the transition, beta, and launch 2.0 thread. Watching people realize the game is good in this thread is just -inducing. Now, of course, we get to fill the current thread with talk of bad DRKs and fracture. So far, yet still so near~

Yeah I can't even get through the lobby at this point. I knew poo poo would be congested, but this is grim. At least I did get onto Zodiark for a little bit and tried out dragonprincess animations. In the main, I like them quite a bit they don't have as great a /grovel as lalafells, but then nobody can really have as great a grovel because a proper-size person trying to mimic the lalagrovel would look like they're shattering their kneecaps. The other animations are nicely characterful, though, and by and large I dig 'em. Now I just need to see how my dragonprincess looks in my wardrobe. Yoship pls quick edit in a queue thank gods

The whole point of Dark Arts + Power Slash is to give you bonkers threat gen, and everything else important also has huge enmity scaling, so no DRK should have threat problems. The easy threat gen is one of the reasons I love tanking with it! (Now if only it was a little clearer exactly how Unleash worked vis-a-vis the "hit" going out compared to the animation...)

If you take a level 50 and a level 60 Scholar with equal MND and WD, the level 50's fairy heals for about 25% more I'm 90% sure this is a bug, though, and I'm a little surprised it wasn't fixed in this go-around. While it does seem like they were a little surprised at how long Scholars were spending in Cleric, the way the numbers are lining up right now just seems like an oversight. I can't imagine them intending for a fairy's "naked" healing to get smaller as you go higher in level. (And besides, if they didn't want SCH doing allthedamage, they wouldn't have given us Broil. )

From some comments the art team's made in certain places (like the art books), this is the reason - super long hair is a technical nightmare on multiple levels in the current engine, and only NPCs like Iceheart get such hair because the art team can exert far more control over the hair per-scene, compared to a player's hair which has to work everywhere and ideally clip as little as possible. Like, Esoterics gear is all better than the story Alexander gear, so the only reason to run Alexander at this point is if you like the way that set looks, I guess? This is all confusing. Basically, yes. In fact upgraded Esoterics gear is probably going to be the best gear available until 3.2, as in the content model to date, odd-numbered patches have been "catch-up" patches. You're limited in how much Esoterics you get a week, though, so Alex normal will help fill that in. I didn't anticipate Esoterics being that much more powerful than Alex normal, though. That is one gently caress of a power spike we're seeing at 60 at this point. Farg posted:So if I Only did EXDR, it would take 6 days to cap esoterics? What if I threw in frontlines and trials? If you do EXDR and Trial consistently, which takes less than an hour, capping should not be remotely an issue. SpaceDrake fucked around with this message at 15:15 on Jul 21, 2015 |

A lot of people simply go by their previous experiences in a given piece of content and assume it must be like that all the time, or simply have a comfort zone which they shut down outside of. Despite being nearly level 60, he probably never did the math and realized that Protect isn't even necessary for pre-30 dungeons, or didn't realize that, especially with the changes to syncing, a SCH can easily solo the dungeons at that level. He flipped out because he was afraid of ephemeral "failure", but for whatever reason couldn't process the information in front of him that revealed his fears were unfounded.

SirPhoebos posted:Is it me, or did a bunch of characters get new VAs between ARR and HW? Real answer: yes, for reasons they haven't quite explained yet, SE began transitioning to a London-based recording studio in 2.4 for the Ishgardian characters, and with Heavensward moved English voice production over there completely, with the attendant role changes for the non-Ishgardian cast. (The old voice recording had been done in Los Angeles.) As a result, there's actually a fair number of Xenoblade veterans among the cast now - Tataru is Fiora, which is basically the best thing, and Pipin, for all he doesn't get a ton of screentime this expansion so far, is Shulk. Sadly, no Jay Taylor (Reyn) or Rufus Jones (Dunban), though with Jones that's probably because he's busy as hell. We also got David Warner (Jon Irenicus, Chancellor Gorkon, et cetera) as Edmont, which just owns.
