I'm actually more excited about the new bluray ost than I am for heavensward Regardless I'll be on around 6ish am (assuming I can even get in) to poopsock with everyone.

Anybody know if they ever fixed the issue with higher resolutions and the cutscene dialogue window being way to small? I play on a 58inch plasma at 1080p and sit a bit aways from the screen but find I have to sit significantly closer on this game. I find it's much more relaxing to poop in a sock laying down on the couch as opposed to having to sit up. Plzhalp.

I think the main issue is the text bubble that comes up during cutscenes along with random npc chat bubbles that pop up. As far as i am aware there is no way to increase the size on these which means i either have to sit fairly closer to the screen than i like or run at a lower resolution.

Begemot posted:Yeah my standard protocol for quests it's to click to objective to see it on the map, and if it's not nearby I scroll over to the nearest aetheryte and click it to teleport. So much easier than remembering which town is in which zone all the time. Been playing ARR since beta and my mind has just been seriously hosed sideways.

Etrips posted:Is there a secret way to increase the NPC chat dialogue size? I don't remember the text being this small. This has come up a lot of times, both here and on the official forums. There doesn't seem to be a way to increase the size and no official word has given on whether they plan on doing anything about it. The only fix is to play at a lower resolution, unfortunately.

When choosing between a weapon and an armor upgrade does the armor upgrade make you look sexier? If so choose that. People playing the game wrong in this thread.

Just got charged for the "Before the Fall" soundtrack. Anybody have any experience with pre-ordering the other soundtracks? Do they send it to you as soon as it's charged? I'm confused on that since it mentioned it wasn't getting released until the 26th.

So I finally got ACT to work and have been futzing around with it. What's a general length of time to attack a training dummy to get an accurate reading. Obviously it's not going to be as accurate as actual battles but I wanted to get something to start with as a baseline for my deepz.

Do what you can to get on Excalibur. A group of goons ran me thru Coils 1-9 (The original raid from A Realm Reborn) and they did the same thing the day before. You'll get everything from gear thrown at you to goons begging you to let them take you thru a dungeon or three. FFXIV made it fairly lucrative to help out newbies and aside from the handful of times I've been on at odd hours I've always gotten help when I've asked for it.

Seriously either pay the 18 bucks or just start over on Excalibur when you can get in if you want 100s of people showering you with sweet sticky goon-love.

Well looks like I'm out of commission until Comcast pulls their head out of their rear end and figure out why my connection keeps dropping intermittently every 1-2 minutes. Went thru everything I possibly can to fix it and the earliest they can send someone out is Monday. :'( Was looking forward to poopsocking this weekend.

Yea we have a few old school FFXI players scattered throughout our 'three' groups on Excalibur (myself included). I immediately exposed my FFXI history when I asked for a "linkpearl" for the CT LS and was laughed at mercilessly.

Basically you'll hit your damage increasing ability and then impulse drive over and over rinse repeat until you get your third attack in the rotation.

I moved to TPT and haven't had any issues with chat. At least on the weekends when I primarily get to play everyone seems pretty chatty. Also I've never been to one of these FFXIV nerd fests. How does it generally work? It looks like entry goes on sale the day before it starts? (the 14th of October)
