Top Hats Monthly posted:Also does the ultimate package look absolutely not worth $99 It includes the car pass, so it includes like a year worth of DLC for free. also the VIP bonuses, and you get it a few days earlier. The car pass alone is going to be $50, so you're already $10 better off with the ultimate if you were going to be getting the car pass anyway.

August's rewards aren't available for 6 more days, probably what you experienced as well.

Wow that's disappointing but not all that surprising. PCars manages to do it but here it looks like it's canned/scripted weather events rather than dynamic. By dynamic I don't mean changing during the race (pcars does this though). I mean there's only one track model, and the weather subsystem applies weather to it and the lighting system determines if it's dark or not. Apparently in FM6 none of this is dynamic and they've built a rain version of a track, a sunny version of a track, a sunset version of a track, and a night version of a track.

The thing I don't get is that Project Cars is on the xbone and it can do those things. Furthermore, forza horizon 2 is on the xbone, uses the forza 5 engine, and can do those things.

The livery editor is most likely exactly the same since you'll be able to bring designs created in 5 into 6. If I remember right there were more ridiculous body kits available in 4 than there were in 5. Maybe they've had time to model/carry some of those over.

L_Harrison posted:What about the Indycar/Lotus E21? Forcing you to use the clutch for shifting is really silly, but I never tried it with Manual only (not Manual w/clutch). I use a wheel and I just turn on auto-clutch mode (basically it just sends an A button command at the same time as the RB or LB command that the paddles are mapped to). The auto clutch only affects the paddles so I use the shifter when it's a car that actually has an H pattern in real life, otherwise I just use the paddles.

Having the DLC does give a better car selection when doing goonspec racing nights, wednesdays at 10 PM. Demo rules btw. The Thrustmaster wheel feels great in the game. And the distance ahead/behind hud element is back!

Remember too, it's not stock in the demo, All of the cars are upgraded and I don't know if they were just auto upgraded or if someone at T10 actually upgraded them properly. The only cars I've tried out so far are the Ford GT in the first race that forces all assists on, the RX7, the GT86, and the Audi in rivals. I like it a lot more than 5. And since there isn't anything in 5 that's not already in 6 (they carried over every car, right?) I will probably just delete 5 after transferring over all of the vinyls.

ethanol posted:if i actualy play the demo all the way through will it unlock rivals and not make me do the career over again or is it just going to keep making me restart the same baby races every time? I may be remembering wrong, but every time you fire up the demo you have to do that ford gt race, then the first race of the career. then you can exit and go to the main menu. I might be mistaken about that second part, but you have to watch the movie and do the ford gt race every time you fire it up.

GramCracker posted:That is pretty much why I dislike the idea. WE MUST CRAM A GAME WITHIN THE GAME. It's fresh, it's hip, it's new. I'll get over it on the 10th when I'm having an absolute blast driving all the cars. F5 was a mega turd. They have an exclusive licensing deal with EA. Sometimes EA sublicenses to other games companies.

Except that's not how it worked out at all. Credits were plentiful from the start by just playing the game, especially rivals and online. Then to curb the bitching from people who had not even played the game they started paying out even more credits, made the most expensive car in the game free, and changed the policy on DLC cars so adding them to your garage didn't cost in game money.

L_Harrison posted:I don't know if adding movable tires was a good idea either, because you can crash into them and get them out of the way (like in the chicane section of Rio). Then, you have a straighter line through to turn a faster lap without getting it dirtied. It's like they didn't think this through very well. And then it leaves a bunch of tires that actually slow down other cars in the track. In real life that would be a safety car situation. It looks really cool though. If they had just left all the tire walls enclosed like some of them are you could still capture the motion (the enclosed tire walls still have some give and bounce to them) but not the unrealistic spraying of tires everywhere that remain lap after lap.
