They could be responding to the criticism we've had about almost every conflict so far, in that they seem to be resolved immediately upon the new season/half season. It's a USA show so that's expected to an extent, but maybe they're trying something different? Then again, little late in the game to switch things up so drastically.

Its kind of odd that they straight up said how much Mike is making at his new job. Actual numbers for salaries is one of those TV taboos that they almost never go into.

I was surprised that Mike wasn't on board with being a lawyer again since I figured once that was on the table it had to be where they were going with it, but this episode managed to do the standard Suits formula of decision making and still make it interesting. I liked it quite a bit, even the goofy Cyber-Donna! If the firm can ever get on its feet properly again, it'd be nice to see Mike running the pro-bono division and occasionally coming in to help Harvey with stuff that's only 50% shady instead of 100%. Also, I liked that they showed some other lawyers around working in the background without ever mentioning hey, we got those associates from Zane and spelling all that out again.

Just gonna ride it out with protagonists who have all done horrible things for supposedly good reasons throughout the show, see that sweet Specter & Ross firm open up during the series finale, and chuckle to myself about how they managed to make a show about lawyers doing insanely unethical things week in and week out and had them all ultimately avoid consequences for doing so. I'm not expecting them to copy the second half of Breaking Bad's final season with Hank finding out about Walt and gunning for him, but man if they have the firm investigated by some hotshot prosecutor and keep having to put out fires and hide evidence related to all the shady stuff they've done for clients and their own benefit as part of their 30+ faustian bargains, I think that'd be a drat fine way to go out. For now I'm totally up for seeing Mike and Rachel both trying to become lawyers and both hitting major roadblocks along the way, hopefully we can get something cheesy like them moving into their new apartment and putting a copy of each of their bar certification's on the wall with their marriage license between them. It would be a hilarious gut punch and some real sensible dramatic tension though if Mike does get proper lawyer status while doing legal black ops with Harvey and she doesn't pass character and fitness because of her ties to Mike. They've made that relationship such a focus of the show that it's hard for me to really believe they're going to get married and be on firm ground.
