Velvet Sparrow posted:Welp, this week we've successfully rehomed 10 of the chicks, plus two adult roos--Buzzard, who hatched last year, and Bloop. Huh, so what's the pecking order nowadays?

VS, are all your chickens there? This was in the news today: Why did the Chicken cross the Bay Bridge? http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2015/09/02/loose-chicken-halts-traffic-at-the-bay-bridge-toll-plaza/

As I mentioned on the cam, a friend of mine is making a webcomic about the last chicken in the universe. http://www.cluckedcomic.com/ quote:When a chicken lands on Earth in search of kin, he discovers that not only is his kind considered the tastiest thing in the universe… he’s also the only one left. Can he survive the hungering hordes, cosmic chases and entirety of the Galactic Federation long enough to save his homeworld?

Velvet Sparrow posted:The kid is lobbying for us to hatch quail next Spring (along with an emu, God help us), I told her they'd probably go wild pretty quick once they were put outside...she says she's OK with it. We'll see. What about an angry fuzzy chicken, the Kiwi?

Velvet Sparrow posted:Welp, with 6 days to go until the hatch, Yoya the Giant Cochin has gone full-on broody so it looks like she'll be Chickam mama again this year! The only other broods we have are all banties--Sophie, Wiggles, Blossom and Skillet. If we wanted to use them for mama we'd have to tie 2 or 3 of them together to equal ONE Yoya. I dunno, the idea of tying 3 of the banties together to make a MegaBroody like some sort of Chicken Power Ranger is intriguing.
