So where did it settle out on being able to vomit money at the game for additional progress? It just sped it up via order things right?

I think you can get around some caps (buy argents, convert to credits gets around that cap I think) but AFAIK there's no way to get around the spark cap

I bought a pack and played CBT1 and a little of 2. It's fun enough and seems reasonably casual friendly? The action combat was good anyway. The questing was nowhere near as mind numbing as Tera's was. Not touching it again until it goes live though. I did make a character called Avatar Lastname because I have no loving originality when it comes to names. Edit - poo poo I'm slow, I just realised progress is permanent in a week or two. If you wanna play it's worth it because you'll have about a week's worth of progress on people who don't, and the poo poo you get from it is kinda cool, a bit of starting money and gear and a bunch of sparks. If you don't have a burning hole in your pocket it won't make too much of a difference either way, though.

Spergs are kinda like picking negative class perks to allow one super powerful perk. On one hand you got the ability to play the game non stop super grinding and extreme progression.
