I made a video of a quick completion of the Obstacle Course in Nedder Test Area. As best as I'm aware, this seems to be the best route to take, with relatively high safety (skipping the worst mines segment).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3Wj6Q2QjJI

And a temporary WebM upload: http://a.uguu.se/otrmup.webm (12MB, ~22 hours until it is deleted from the time of this post)

I dismount prior to the first checkpoint because you can't really jump reliably on mounts unless you're at maximum speed, with there being a small time of acceleration. On tiny platforms, you're likely to just stupidly fall down rather than jump. Additionally, I don't think you can interact with the mine detector while mounted, anyway, and I haven't found a way to completely skip that segment. All of the jumps I make while mounted are definitely possible on the slower mounts.

At this speed, Obstacle Course is one of the faster Trials, which is important considering that it's currently the only sane choice for farming gear PvE.

If there's any interest, I could make a video for the Escort Trial, too, but that's less "cool shortcuts" and more learning the limits of enemy aggro ranges so I don't know how helpful a video might be for that.

That's weird, you're supposed to get a group with 4 DPS and 1 Support.

Is there a way to change the skills on the skillbar? My Paladin has Harsh Verdict and Purification unlocked and C is open, but I can't figure out how to place them on the empty C slot.

You have to Reset Talents. Any of your skills that are in a column, you can (usually) only pick one of - so it's one or the other. Harsh Verdict, if I remember correctly, is your fourth Right Click skill, so you've had that for a long time. You would have to give it up for Purification. See post below

The only exception to this I'm aware of is that Archer has a set-up that allows you to choose 2 out of 3, but it's still fundamentally the same thing.

I also hit a slump around 14k, and what I decided to do was just outright take a break for this week - next week, I'll have two weeks' worth of caps to play with. I can actually pick out quite a few reasons that contributed to feeling the slump:

1) The Class Sparks cap kind of sucks. For a game that promotes freedom of classes, it's really easy to get caught up in a position where you actually have no real options for several weeks. I have Archer capped, and with this week I could cap Kinetic, and then I'm left with just little enough to not accomplish any of my other goals - so, next week, I have to make a really lame choice between the following classes: Paladin for the class symbol, Alchemist because it interests me the most as a support and has an amazing class symbol, Witchlock because it sounds like a great alternative for speedrunning instances to Kinetic, or Slayer because being a whip ninja sounds fun as hell.

Not to mention the other four classes I have unlocked but due to the limitation of Class Sparks I just can't afford to have any interest in: Cryomancer, Lightbinder, Necromancer, and Knight. This week I was stuck in a position where I had to devote everything to finish out Kinetic, and next week I'll only really have the resources to pick one of the above. The weekly lockout on this is a huge limitation towards flexibility.

2) The instances leading up to this Prestige level kind of suck. Ignum Monastery has a random trigger for reaching the first boss, plus a general inability to skip mobs because everything auto-aggros on triggers. Syblian Heights is mostly just trash - good overall for rewards, but I personally find it dreadfully boring even for how much you can skip. Tau's bosses struck me as painfully tedious, Alakur has featured some strange bugs, and Aristel's Farm is an enforced 15 minutes of trash. This is largely opinion, of course, but I feel a lot of these instances are relatively weak compared to how much I like Kyris, Lanber Catacombs, and the god drat amazing speed-instance that is Saiban Archipelago.

3) Farming gear is rear end since the prestige scaling addition. PvP is the only thing that offers gear even remotely close to my Proficiency, and that's often times an 18-minute slog of dumb teammates not knowing how to objectives. Also, generally not a fan of PvP.

I've enjoyed the game but the past few thousand Prestige have been rather less than stellar, and at this point I wish I had more than two classes to choose from, one of which suffers from crippling bugs. I've just decided to take that as a time to sit back a week or two and come back to enjoy a high cumulative cap.

Just make a character on both servers and start out on NA. High ping doesn't do much in the way of negative things except for weirdness due to bad code. Rubberbanding can be an issue but that's more dependent on your packet loss (which your ping means gently caress all if you're dropping packets in any online game) and, strangely, class. Kinetic, despite being one of the least mobile classes, rubberbands a lot for me. Witchlock and Archer? Nope not a problem.

If you decide that the NA server isn't for you, then you'll at least have the spark caps on the EU server similar to your NA character, so you're not effectively losing weeks of waiting by switching if it takes you a few days to decide.

I read that later Resistance upgrades require "less batteries" and "more knowledge."

I'm not 30k so I don't know what that means, but apparently it means you don't need millions of credits to reach 300 Resistance.

As far as adepts go, is there a consensus on what stat total they should have before they're worth enlightening? Should I be waiting for 8/10s or better, or is it not that important?

If you play a lot, then obtaining resources for enlightenment stops becoming such a big deal. At later Order levels, the Amulets and etc. start raining down on you. A good estimate seems to be when you unlock the next tier of enlightenment, you'll be amassing resources enough to enlighten everyone to the tier below - that is to say, when you start picking up Purple Enlightenment (12K or so Prestige) items, you should be safe to upgrade everyone to Blue.

This also kind of depends on how fast your Order has progressed overall. I had a friend that started playing the same time as I did, and we were about as vigilant with our Order as each other, but he doubled my Order rank in two weeks because I had been unlucky with Follower missions while he had been lucky.

Either way, eventually it'll start snowballing to the point that you don't have to care so much.

e: Also, once you reach your currency cap, PvP bags give a fair bit of enlightenment resources, and you'll get a ton of enlightenment resources after capping your class sparks and while you work on your currency cap thru Holy Texts. If you at least play to capping currency thru Holy Texts, you'll definitely be drowning in the enlightenment resources.

I've put this game on hold to get a few caps saved up so I'm not aware of what's going on or coming - what are these events and why would they ruin the game?

As best I understand, the most upcoming one is basically just stuff you do with your Adepts, except playing at a normal Free rate will achieve nothing of value for you. By spending money, you can reach rewards that vary from quality of life (additional loadouts so you don't have to, say, respec between a PvE and PvP build) to raw undeniable power (faster mount, can select two chapels per province which means more stats which means more actual power that can not be achieved by a non-paying customer.)

There have been mentions somewhere that the intention is that it won't be so bad for the US/EU version, but it's somewhat doubtful.

You can theoretically do it F2P, but currently maximizing Credits is hands-down the worst part of the grind of the game, primarily because of how tedious it is and how it requires ignoring certain basic mechanics. Holy Texts are the best way to consume your Credits cap - so to maximize on Holy Texts for the millions of Credits you will need, not only do you have to do hundreds of missions that drop Holy Texts, you have to outright ignore all loot, or you're losing premium on your Credits - this includes, tangibly, boss loot, because you can't get rid of rings, amulets, and weapons without disassembling them.

This also means that PvP should be avoided, where PvP is probably pretty easily the best part of the game: PvP not only gives a large amount of gear, the bags also inherently destroy your Credit cap.

This issue is just compounded with the obtuse difficulty of actually farming for gear - rings show up less commonly now since weapons show up constantly from boss loot, and usually white or green rarity. The likelihood for a blue ring is immensely low unless you're with a group, but Prestige scaling means you specifically need a premade group to not have Proficiency scaled way under what it should be. This is especially bad because rings are your greatest source of damage, so they especially should be kept up to date - an impossible task even for the most dedicated grinding.

In this sense, it's kind of ridiculous to complain about the Sparks cap because at least then you have other rewards while failing to get new rings.

Ultimately the problem lies in that it's the most blatant treadmill possible - the extrinsic reward you have for playing is increasing numbers which are made more obviously meaningless than other games because everything else increases proportionally or moreso, meaning things don't really change. The game is fun, but for the time dedication it asks by being an MMO, perhaps not fun enough.

The issue is that "Saving Money" means that you aren't spending it on upgrading ether nodes or temples or your weapon/ring/accessory things. And while there's catch-up mechanics for your spark caps, there isn't one for your credit caps.

Because they want you to spend real money to get those credits.

A further underlying issue is that spending money on all of the above things you listed actually hurts your relative power. You only want to upgrade your Ring Booster - everything else is basically just Prestige inflation - and even then, the prices on Enhancement Stones accelerates so quickly that the stat boosts are relatively worthless for you. If you really want to min/max your damage, you actually want your Prestige as low as possible, making it counter-intuitive...

A better way to spend your Credits is getting Premium to save you time for farming Holy Texts to convert into Credits to buy more Premium.
