How did a network that shat out five seasons of Falling Skies manage to not only greenlight this show in the first place, but actually make it good, fun, enjoyable TV?

The Baltimore storyline had me worried but I'm glad that they wrapped it up quickly and moved on to better stories.

I said this in the chat thread but binging this show pairs really well with playing X-com. I laughed at the scenes where the writers were obviously relishing putting that red-haired smart-mouthed liberal hippy chick from LOST in her place, but she came through in the end.

What's your problem with inter-state bluetooth? It's legit.

Really liked the episode. Complete bullshit as usual but it was really well sold.

e: by "flood the network" they meant to drown out people going "err i dont see poo poo" with lots of (fake) people saying "ITS RIGHT THERE LOOK ITS DOING 40knots SOMEHOW!"
I kinda liked the concept.

When Valkyrie hosed up and tipped off the sub that the reported locations were fake, was it an accident or did she do it on purpose? As she said, she'd go down with the ship too so there's no point in betraying them, but she was looking all shifty-eyed and the line "if I say you went any further you'd be on land" didn't match up with the map.

Pretty sure it was an accident. The sub guy realized something was up with the network, and figured she must have survived because she was the only one who could do it. The captain can turn anyone to his cause just by proximity and by having one of his bridge officers request permission to salute him on the bridge.

Yeah, that and the terrible "trust us, this is the view through the binoculars" shot of the Nathan James that they used constantly during the fight for the rocket artillery were the dumbest parts of the episode. Curing a child through the power of tearful hugs was a close runner-up.

"Doctor, we've never tested this method on people, shouldn't we give them the tried-and-true shot just to make sure?"

"No. It worked - I know it."

Only issue is that now they need a new ship as there one is hosed and would need months of dry dock time. Thankfully there are tons of them back in the naval yards.

Or they could take it in a new direction, where the program is called Last Ship but they dont actually have a ship anymore as they abandoned it as it was virtually worthless.

With ship in pretty bad shape, season 3 being a road trip back to Norfolk through the infected homeland could be interesting. Especially if the huggable cure turns out to be something bad somehow.

I expect - and hope - that to be true. Season Five better see it patched to hell, fused with salvaged pieces of other ships, and using a pair of Abrams tanks as improvised deck guns.

Yeah she so isn't dead. They're only dead if there's a shot of the bullet hole in the forehead and the eyes are open and glazed. Unless the actress might be leaving the show but isn't sure yet, in whichcase they can make her be dead, otherwise she survives, they glean some drama from it, and it serves as a good excuse to keep her with main gang because it's too dangerous for the person who's the most knowledgeable in the world of the disease and cure to be gallivanting around the country. Even though it already was anyway.

This was an immensely fun show to watch, even if aspects of it were kinda bad. Brilliant action scenes.
