So far the anime looks good. It IS hard being the anime of a manga as ungodly awesome as Jitsu wa Watashi wa (what with high expectations and shoes to fill and whatnot) but it certainly looks as though they are going to give a true effort. If anything else some of my fears surrounding the initial images they released of the anime have been alleviated. Though now that the anime has started I must ask... HOW LONG UNTIL WE GET TO MY FAVORITE CHARACTER??? The Candy Addicted Super Demon Principal!

As someone who hasn't read the manga, that was a really cute and funny first episode. I'd say it's one of the better ones of the season so far.

Agreed, I'm glad I have something to watch now that Jojo's is over. After it ended I was worried I wouldn't have any need of crunchyroll anymore, yesterday I started watching Gintama for the first time and it's pretty awesome but it's nice to have a brand new show that forces you to wait a week for each new episode. Now my friend if you liked this episode even the tiniest bit then I implore you, go read the manga. If you like comedy in your stuff you cannot go wrong with it. This isn't one of those "oh I read the manga first and anyone who hasn't isn't a real fan" type suggestion, this is a "the manga is honestly amazing and you shouldn't miss out on it" type suggestion. If you liked the episode you will love the manga.

I feel the second episode moved in the right direction, but doesn't quite hit the level it should. How should I put it? It feels like they aren't playing it over the top enough, it still feels a bit generic to me. However the 2nd episode was much better than the 1st so there's still hope it'll be entertaining. Also while they aren't at the manga's level yet this episode had much better faces, I liked this one in particular.

She's the best part of the manga.

Agreed. For me the manga went from being really really good to being the best rom-com ever when her character appeared.

It's hard to judge the quality of the anime itself having read the manga first. The manga is beyond amazing, so it's going to make a show of any quality look bad by comparison. It's not the show's fault how high that bar is.

Basically it's the same feeling you get when they take an epic book series and make it into a movie series. Naturally for time constraints and whatnot there's going to be material left out, but I also think there's more than that here.

Pros:
*It was really cool seeing such an amazing series get made into an anime.
*I also liked most of the voice actors.
*I really enjoyed the fact that they got the "Let's save Earth" chapter into the show.

Beefs:
*The manga has a drat near perfect rom to com ratio, whereas the show seemed to push too many halfhearted rom moments.
*Also there was the fanservice. In the manga, as in the anime, most to all of the fanservice is routed through Shiho's character, however in the manga it seemed to flow naturally whereas the anime seemed to force it fairly often.
*The show also seemed to miss the perfect comedic timing of the source material by a beat or two.

Overall impression: The show suffers most perhaps because of its inevitable comparison to the manga coupled with it's attempt to fit too much of the manga's later content into only 13 episodes, no matter how hard you try it's going to be shallow (Think a person trying to beat an Olympic level athlete with only one month of training.) There are some things that just take time. It's not terrible, I don't regret watching it, though I probably wouldn't recommend the anime (The manga I universally recommend to anyone).

TLDR Summary: Too much half-hearted Rom, Not enough Com.
