i like my ibm model m but it's very loud so i'm thinking of a model F and a converter.

pros: capacitive switches feel better, not as loud
cons: no arrow keys + weird layout??

i'm not even making that up. it took me until like 2013 to buy an SDL cable for it tho

i also have a pair of HHKB Lite 2s, which look like the really expensive happy hacking keyboards but are secretly rubber dome (tho they are really nice rubber dome and are good bc they are quiet)

advantage: arrow keys have a cool layout, OMNI key, lots of function keys, function keys on the left (cool)

disadvantage: nonstandard number of Alps switches so no cool keycap sets, ever

another cool bit: using the dip switches under that little panel i can configure it for xt, at, amiga, and a variety of other computers

e:

quote:

The OMNI key in the middle of the cursor-control
keypad produces the same
keystroke as the 5 on the numeric keypad
when NUM LOCK is off. This key is
recognized as a programmable key by
some software packages such as Word

fun fact: IBM's beam spring keyboards from the 70s, in addition to apparently feeling The Best, have a solenoid in them that goes "clack" when you hit a key to make it louder

I'm a Node.JS guru living in SoMa, but in my off time I enjoy doing some PC Gaming and discussing ethics in Gaming journalism, online. For that won't accept anything less than the best mechanical keyboard.

It definitely had a hefty cost with its MSRP of $725, but every time I sit down in my Aeron (bought new, natch) to play the Star Citizen Dogfighting Module or write my daily anti-SJW activism tweets on my overclocked, 144hz, 4K monitor, and I lay my fingers on these premium Cherry MX Blues and feel their click (more satisfying than any other keyboard on the market), I am content.

no you don't

you want a USB stereo 24bit/192kHz DAC with tube amplifier to plug your headphones into

then you can choose the best possible mechanical keyboard without compromising either keyboard or audio quality

put a usb hub, a dac, and a teensy (for adb > usb conversion) inside an apple extended keyboard ii. replace one adb jack with a usb micro or c, the other with headphones. Boum
