What is the Myers Briggs Type Indicator? It's basically a nerd horoscope that condenses different aspects of personality into four dichotomies. You take a test and it spits out a four letters that are supposed to sum up your personality. It was invented by a mother daughter team of psychology enthusiasts based on Carl Jung's theories. Here's the official website that explains each letter in detail. and here's a summary of each of the 16 types. You can take the test on the website for a fee or you can just use this unlicensed knockoff that shows up as the second result in google. If you don't like to click things here's a chart summing up each type. If you do like clicking things, check this out. http://cfcl.com/vlb/Projects/D3/MBTI/ A quick disclaimer: like a real horoscope, the MBTI can be fun and flattering, but you probably shouldn't use it as a basis for important life, career, or romantic decisions. It's not really based on any extensive evidence or research, but that doesn't stop companies and government organizations from using it anyway. Now onto the tedious, boring charts. Here's one with a bunch of historical figures you can measure your personal failings against. You can find even more at this website. This one lists composers and their types. There's a ton for fictional characters but this one is noteworthy for including four characters in each type. Who has time for that? More fictional characters here http://mentalfloss.com/us/go/65218 Sports! Find your fursona with this animal chart! and here's another one with several of the same animals shuffled around. This article details the unique reasons why nobody likes you. Anyway, feel free to vote in the poll (sorry, chaotic neutral isn't an option) post articles and charts or tell everyone more about yourself and your type. I'm not sure I get it, but I laughed anyway. Strategic Tea posted:Lol at the idea that Ayn loving Rand is a historical figure alongside Einstein and Churchill. She's barely a blip in history. It's less that she's the most significant INTJ person and more that she's the most INTJ person to ever be considered significant. Anyway, I can't say I'm surprised that INTJ is the most popular type among goons, but I didn't expect such a strong preference for introversion (117 votes and no one has picked ESTP yet). On the upside, there are more feelsgoons out there than I thought, so there's at least a little diversity among the introverts. Also I don't know if the results would look different if I had posted this in another sub-forum, but PYF seemed like a better environment than neo-gbs for a semi-controlled pseudoscientific survey like this.

Pastry of the Year posted:According to internet polls, every Myers-Briggs personality type is the rarest type. According the the official website, INFJ really is the most rare type. http://www.myersbriggs.org/my-mbti-personality-type/my-mbti-results/how-frequent-is-my-type.htm Here's the goon population so far. http://forums.somethingawful.com/poll.php?action=showresults&pollid=33513 As you can see there's a strong preference for introversion (80%) while the general population is just over 50%. What's more unusual is that the N/S preference is inverted, with 74% of goons preferring intuition over sensing, as opposed to the 27% preference among normal people. Then again, there may may be a significant number of sensing goons not reporting, since sensing people tend not to care about this kind of poo poo.

KillHour posted:I always get ENFP on these things. Thinking vs Feeling isn't really about what you know or how smart you are, but how much you consider feelings when making decisions. To be fair though, the way they ask the questions on some of these assessments presents them in stark, binary terms. Like, you'd have to be a huge rear end in a top hat to answer thinking on some of them. Then there's complex, loaded questions like "which do you value more, justice or mercy?" when really, that depends on your definition of justice. Really, thinking/feeling aren't opposites in the same way introversion/extraversion and judging/perceiving are, but the mbti doesn't seem to acknowledge that. Android Bicyclist posted:Fuckin' C3PO. I doubt wolverine would be in the same category as C3PO and Mother Teresa. He's more of an ISTP. Anyway, the competition for gooniest type is heating up.

I found this website just recently, it has listings of historical figures and celebrities for every type. http://www.celebritytypes.com/personality-tests.php If you look past the primary colors, gradients, and rounded corners, it's actually quite informative. They have articles going over the theories, including ones acknowledging that the MBTI and Jungian theories aren't the end-all, be-all of personality studies. http://www.celebritytypes.com/articles.php Here's an infographic about the different functions. This could be useful if you can't figure out your type on testing and type summaries. It's also available in video form. They have some other interesting videos on their channel. They have an uncannily great taste in clip-art. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFgOgWYkXbg And here they are all stacked on top of each other for each type.

So...uh...I know it means I'm a bad person, but what the gently caress? 1%? This site has tests specifically to distinguish between two types, eg. INTJ vs INTP, INFP vs INTP, INTP vs ISTP, everything you need to figure out what kind of INTP you are.
