My GenCon Blurry Recollections:
How is it a hotel room that costs $400+ a night doesn't provide wireless? Also, our freezer was a block of ice. And I don't mean that figuratively. Most things with the hotel were alright. Except for the tendency for their card-keys to get wiped if you left them near a cell phone or credit card. Whups.

Which hotel? So I can plan accordingly next year.
As I mentioned in the Gencon thread Park Place/Candlewood is a pretty good deal if you're on a budget and don't mind the 2 mile shuttle ride, free wi-fi, a ridiculous amount of space (could sleep 5+ easily) we called it the Motel 6 Presidential Suite.

Biggest regret: Not meeting the Spirit of '77 guys. Should have made more of an effort to, but a lot gets lost in the mix. Should've gone to more seminars, but I overdid with those in previous years and it really goes along with the above; there weren't a lot of products I was hyped for that got GenCon exposure.

Likewise my biggest regret was not gaming with goons. Somebody played in my Saturday session, and he introduced himself to me, but I've already forgotten his name. :psyboom: So if you're out there unknown goon, thank's for playing!

I semi-crashed the private Kickstarter party and got to talk to Luke Crane a bit, super nice guy. We talked to a couple distributors and it looks like we'll have So77 in stores and at conventions in 2016.

Let's cut down to the brass tacks here... Who do I gotta kill to get a Rat Queens movie made?

No casting has been announced for the film, but Vin Diesel probably wouldn’t mind discussing a role. [link to Vin Diesel's D&D book birthday cake]

Forget Vin Diesel, will Marlon Waynes will return?

Don't we have a Dungeon World thread this discussion should be taking place in?

It wouldn't be the TG chat thread if we didn't go over why some people don't like Dungeon World every couple of months.

Here's what I think it all boils down to:

Edit: I really do need to play Apocalypse World at least once to see if I am that Venn diagram overlap

I'm pretty sure the only people in that overlap are Sage and Adam themselves because I've don't think I've ever seen anyone playing Dungeon World as it's written, it's always Wizard High School Hyjinks, Sky-Pirate Adventures or Fantasy Running Man (not that there's anything wrong with those things).

Dungeon World gives the impression that it's going to be everything you always wanted DnD to be, but it actually delivers what old school DnD really was. Since that's what they set out to do, I can't say it's a bad game, just that it's not the game that a lot of people really want it to be.

I think the problem with Cyberpunk is that a significant part of the genre is gear-porn, which doesn't mesh well with rules light systems. I mean what's the point of having a tricked out On-Sendai Cyber-7 and Zeiss cyber-eyes when it doesn't give me any real advantage over that chump with a cheap Z-Tech 2000 and a pair of surplus night vision goggle?

As much as I dislike the Shadowrun and CP2020 mechanics, they both get the gear-porn aspect of the genre right. I think for a good Cyberpunk game you need a mid-point between granular crunch-tacular nonsense and rules light.

So what are some RPGs with crazy random character creation systems or other fun randomized tables/creators? My example is deadEarth, which has an absolutely nuts mutation system: https://rpgcharacters.wordpress.com/downloads-games/deadearth-resources/

Central Casting which is long out of print, but there's a cool post in the old charcter gen thread here.

Doesn't GURPS have a bunch of alternate and hybrid magic systems too? I remember a rune-word system of some sort.

The 3.5 psionics rules always felt to me like the designers saying "this is what we would do if we weren't stuck with vancian magic".
