Obviously, just grinding off the head of the bolt won't get you anywhere because its shaft would still stay in place. The second bracket bolt is blocked by the alternator. I can't really get a wrench on it and it's also corroded in place. I'll probably go pick up a cheap torch tomorrow and give heat a shot.

Even if a bracket bolt wasn't blocked by the alternator, there's just BARELY enough room to get the alternator alone out (and only with a lot of swearing). He would have to remove the drivers side axle. Removing the axle is actually the recommended method to remove the alternator anyway.

Yet another reason I love California cars. Midwest, can't get an alternator out. Here, two hours to pull an almost 30yr old engine out.

mafoose posted:Did you get the hardware from the jy alt? If so, cut that sucker off. Yeah, I was thinking about that. If you have the bracket from the junkyard alt, grind off the head of the bolt, grind off the threaded boss square nut thing from the back, and poke the shaft of the bolt out the front. Then replace the bracket. Or, if the nut is not attached to the bracket, just go hog wild with a nut splitter or just cut it off.

Problem is that the shaft doesn't want to poke either direction, it's seized in solid, so grinding the head off just commits you. If you've already pounded on the tip of the bolt though it's probably mushroomed, hosed up threads, and needs to come out period. So it might be unbolting the whole bracket time, much as that would suck, or sawzalling off one ear of the mounting bracket time.

I haven't mushroomed it too badly but the threads are hosed. I did have the foresight to take the bolt and nut from the JY though. I somehow lost my sawzall in a move a while back, I wonder if my angle grinder will fit in the space to cut this sucker out.

If you can't function day to day without being high, maybe you're going a bit overboard? You might need to tone back on the toking and get help if you can't.

Protip: In some counties (i.e. mine), you don't have to pass a drug test to be a teacher! Granted, if you show up to teach and you're obviously under the influence of something, you can be escorted to be tested, but they don't test during the hiring process

If marijuana were out of your system as quickly as most other drugs I'm convinced very few companies would bother to drug test applicants.

I haven't smoked since 2007 (when opium on top was my fave with a butane jet lighter) and I really can't with any regularity due to EMS work, but I tell you the second I'm out of the army I'm killing 1/4 or even 1/2 in one night with a custom variac vape I have built, and is at the ready in a box waiting. I want to melt into the couch and not feel anything for days. Why the gently caress else did I buy a VW van?

A couple of random items: Passed a used car lot this morning. It had the following sign: "Lawaway You're Next Car" Couldn't snap a pic because of traffic, safety, etc. An early 90s Tercel pulled up to the light next to me. Two college aged guys in the car. Every time the driver would take his foot off the brake, it would buck and stall like bad manual transmission driver. I helped them push it off the street. It was an automatic transmission.

They're terrific little motors. One of these days I've got to find a rust free Mk1 Rabbit shell to swap all the Scirocco's running gear into. I'm obsessed with weight reduction. I got the Scirocco down to 2070 lbs with the 16v in it. Pretty sure I'm going to need to go with a Rabbit to get under 2000.
