WoW wouldn't have bled so much if content was delivered in a timely manner. People got burnt out even faster than back during Cataclysm because Blizzard has no concept of keeping deadlines.

I find that's a problem in a lot of the industry right now. Delaying a game so it doesn't fall apart on release is fine and good, but it seems a lot of companies have gotten comfortable just releasing things months or a year later than they were supposed to, and are surprised that affects sales.

People talking about the declining playerbase of wow as if it's some kind of fall of Rome comeuppance is stupid to me. They made a bazillion dollars and then found out it's not actually possible to make people play the same game forever. Ok.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall Director's Cut

You can't start with Dragonfall, it's so much better than Returns. It'll make it really hard to go back.

It's a shame Returns didn't get its own Director's Cut, it could really use it. I think it still has some typos.

Returns isn't bad or anything. It's just a much shorter and less polished game than Dragonfall, so it's definitely better to play it first. I mean, it's self-contained enough that you can skip it entirely, but I think that'd be a waste.

I think the worst example of Kojima writing women was in MGS4, the end of Meryl's arc. That was a "I cannot believe this is really happening" moment, and it was really bad, no matter how many layers of irony or trolling went into it..

I heard that one of the side games adds a bunch of retcons to the Boss' characterization, which I guess makes sense considering the nonsense Big Boss spouts in MGS4 and how none of it has anything to do with what actually happened in MGS3. It's a shame, because I thought she was a really good character and didn't need to have more convoluted nonsense added to her motivations.

Games are different from most media in that sequels are almost always better because it usually means mechanical refinement and addition of new technical bells and whistles while delivering a similarly enjoyable story. Almost every game sequel is better than the previous iterations.

Maybe back in the SNES era. That hasn't been true for a while. A lot of sequel games actually have less content than the original, rarely in a good way. Or they go the other direction and add a lot of crap that detracts from the fun of the original.

You can't compare old games to old movies because old movies didn't have UI issues, and there isn't really a movie that's made of lovely early CG that's got redeeming values.

Huge part of that is that IGA had nothing to do with that one, and has said it isn't canon (much like Sonia Belmont) AND it was made by the team that made the N64 Castlevanias.

But yeah, it's really great. Love the soundtrack, just wish it could be remastered somehow, because early GBA games don't sound too good.
