What's the best way to get money and gear from one char to another? A guy in the last thread (izzit I think?) hooked up my first char, an enchanter, with a bunch of stuff, but I've been playing my necro more so I want to get it over to him.

Don't really want to risk dropping it on the ground in an empty house or anything.

They recently implemented the patch to kill Luclin character models from being used on your own client, which upset a lot of people including myself. Never mind that you can still download Luclin high-rez environment textures, enhanced lighting and a host of other post-luclin graphic mods. The reasoning is it's not authentic to the classic experience. The actual reason is it allows trolls and ogres to get on top of some buildings which may allow an advantage in PvP servers. In other words nobody wanted to be bothered to fix it or deal with the several complaints a year it may make.

The general attitude of the community is divided between people who are :smith: about it, and this actual quote:

Keeping boxers off the server is a good thing, unless you're talking about the irony of someone saying to keep it 100% classic except for this one non-classic change.

I'm not really bothered by the buff timer change at all, it just strikes me as entirely pointless and only negatively effects new players who wouldn't know about log parsers. They're clearly able to take a more nuanced approach to the issues than just "was it like this in 1999? no? not happening then" as shown by variance timers, disallowing multiboxing, and a number of other NOT CLASSIC implementations. So why put in a change that does nothing but penalise new players?

Have u been Haynar'd today??

*implements patch that lowers system-wide gamma, rendering game UI, second screens, and alt-tabbed browsers unreadable*

*implements patch that crashes client if you try to log out while standing*

What untested, unannounced CLASSIC FIX will come next with no player beta testing because the dev gets off on people's whining?

Looted a new 2HS in Kael this afternoon - http://wiki.project1999.com/Thunder_Runed_Great_Sword.

Can anyone explain the wiki resist details (-100 SvM)? This sword seems to land a lot of procs on trash mobs.

It means the proc casts as if the enemy had 100 less save vs magic, which means it's significantly likely to land.

I always thought it was a really bizarre thing that your local client framerate actually affects your character's position as far as the server is concerned when using levitate. That seems pretty ripe for potential exploitation, but this is eq1 I guess.

In ffxi you could speed hack (and get banned by accident) if your cpu was overclocked. It just seems to be a thing from games in that era.

Yeah pets definitely take away some of your XP, although AFAIK as long as they're alive you get the penalty. The only way I knew to avoid it was to kill your pet or drop charm before the thing dies, I don't know anything about pulling back at 25%. You'd probably have to dismiss and resummon? Might not be worth it.

If you group, the pet takes no xp.

Woo drama! https://www.reddit.com/r/project1999/comments/3n3p11/censorship/

Hello.

Greengrocer/Guide Moregan here with a Thursday morning/afternoon TLDR for yall!

Well, in the past day, I've had three p99 forum accounts banned, as well as dozens of posts and threads deleted from the p99 forums all because Rogean's jimmies got rustled... because he can't take the heat. Sorry, Rogean... I thought you were a pro internet troll who was able to take it as well as dish it out. Guess not!?

It's not even like I am revealing server secrets. I'm just telling it like it is. You're apparently not allowed to speak your mind while volunteering in Rogean's dictatorship.

From a CSR perspective, Rogean is THE problem with p99, specifically the inability to retain good volunteers. From his complete and total vacancy for the entire first 6 months of my time on staff, to his repeated ignorance of staff requests, to his specific exclusion of certain people from discussions about bringing on new staff members, he just very clearly has no desire to show respect toward his guides, and has no interest in keeping them onboard.

In every essence of the word, Rogean is a manchild who lords over his e-playground with an iron e-fist. Players and volunteers alike.. if you don't like it, he is always more than happy to show you to the door.

I cannot even count the number of times I have had good questions, suggestions, and the strong desire to assist with anything and everything, only to have Rogean respond about his CS GO adventures, talking about his new house, his new car, the new casino that opened up down the road. After a while, it becomes apparent that one of Rogean's and Sirken's chief strategies when dealing with internal questions is to purposefully ignore them and change the subject to something completely unrelated. And here I was thinking that the "CSR Chat" room on skype was supposed to be used to, you know, chat about CSR! Silly me...

After a certain point, you start to just wonder why you even care and why you are trying to improve the environment when the people at the top don't seem to give a gently caress at all.

The only way to fix the situation is for Rogean to remove himself from all CSR based decisions and activities. At this point, he really needs to be physically stuck in the server closet with some snacks and sodas and told to just make sure all the lights stay green.

Sirken is not free of blame for the current state of affairs either. His problem is he has just given up entirely trying to get Rogean to change for the better. I guess after several years of having to work directly underneath big Rog, I'm not very surprised, but he still has a responsibility to his guides who choose to volunteer their time to keep Rog's e-playground spic'n'span.

In effect, Sirken has become a castrated yes-man for Rogean, and has basically stopped pushing for any kind of positive internal change to improve the environment for the server's volunteers.

TLDR: Rogean is good at keeping server hardware plugged in, but that's it. He is one of the worst people on the planet to make CSR decisions. Sirken is an ineffective yes man.

The End

What is it about mmos that attracts these sorts of people.

Serennia, Elitemaiden, god knows how many others on wow.

Crazy feiwong on ffxi.

Girl who faked not only her own death but also an entire family of her fake persona on EQ.

The majority of the playerbase on p1999.

I mean i know the answer is escapism but jeez.

Several Members of the community were all involved to some degree in doxxing each other. So I've issued 30 day bans to the 3 of them.

Sorry it had to come to that, but I'm not risking this subreddit getting shutdown because some ex mods are feeling petty.

This is what happens when you put an unstable RPer into a guide position and then boot him out.

the most chill goon guild i've ever been in was gold knuckles, which is on the moon guard server in wow.

Moon guard being the server that has so many hosed up weirdos that GMs summoned a bunch of demons on the starting human town to wipe out all the cybersexers there.

"PVP" mmos like eve and archeage seem to attract the worst goons.
