I haven't read it in a while just because I had to update my feeds and forgot to regrab it, but I really enjoyed Red Moon Rising while I read it. It's a very pretty comic at the very least.

The more pressing question for me is why Hunter keeps up an illusion that Jimmy escaped their fight somehow. Is he getting lonely and needs a demon partner?

Tbf, after what we've seen him do, I wouldn't be absolutely sure he was dead either.

Well then let's talk about other webcomics!

Beeserker is a webcomic about a robot powered by bees and its albino invincible creators. Joining them are a family of beekeepers, an immobile cat, and a centaur who advertises for cigarettes. Not the most intellectually stimulating thing, but I find it good enough for a chuckle every now and then and like the designs of the characters. It recently added a new character to its cast and seems to be getting another one.

Snarlbear is a story about a girl's adventure through a dangerous and colorful land. Along the way she makes a few friends and picks up the basics of monster punching. Very colorful and striking art.

Skullkickers is a pulpy comic that follows a monster slaying duo around. On their travels, they meet an elf who wants to fulfill her destiny, a demon who wants to take over the world, and an intergalactic elder god who wants to take over all the worlds. Hijinks ensue.

More webcomics then!

Tove is a neat little goofy webcomic about a girl and her brother doing stuff after the end of the world.

Lost Nightmare is a cute webcomic about a nightmare and a dream trying to find the sandman. It's cute looking, but I don't really like its pacing.

The Glass Scientists is a comic about a bunch of mad scientists and their most recent addition, a werewolf botanist. It looks neat, but the author only seems to have one face with differing amounts of hair.

Time for some recommendations.

First up:

Saint for Rent

The comic follows Saint and the people around him. Saint is the owner of an inn for Time Travelers. Watch as he deals with a surly Spanish man, a woman who is also a cat, various other time traveling oddities, and worst of all, his deadbeat brother. Uses gifs to great effect.

Also featuring kinda a Spanish man is our next one:

Sfeer Theory

In Sfeer Theory, we follow a man from fantasy Spain who works as a janitor for a college of psychic and telekinetic people because they won't let him attend as a student. There's also a revolution plot, but it hasn't been brought up that much. Overall, a very nice looking webcomic.

In other nice looking webcomics:

Quick$ilver

Quick$ilver is a comic about a genderqueer person living his life in a city under Vegas where all the sinful things got shuffled to. Living in the town are people with animal characteristics as well. Plays with its panel layouts to great effect.

I'm not sure the next one is really a webcomic, but it's on Hiveworks, so I'll talk about it anyway.

Spiddrelli

Spiddrelli is an animated web comic (?) following an old crime boss, his bodyguard, a doctor, a nurse with strange powers, and a one eyed man with even stranger powers and origins. Recently came back from a year long hiatus.

Recently Skullkickers concluded. Perhaps not the best word for it, since it didn't really wrap much of anything up, but it ended the only way it knew how. With lots of pulp.

What was that webcomic with a man with a TV for a head that wasn't Riceboy?

Edit: This has nothing to do with the current conversation, it just popped into my head.

I seriously can't tell if Kit's asking Poppy to marry her or if she's all "hey let's go find a couple dudes somewhere and get double married, that sounds like fun".

Either way is hilarious.

e/ actually no scratch that I just noticed the brain cogs in the previous panel which kind of make it an obvious option one. Regardless, I'm going to imagine an AU where Poppy and Kit embark on an epic quest to Get Hitched and like, go to furry Vegas or something. With really big butterfly nets, to catch spouses with.

Why do we need an AU for something that's about to happen in the comic itself?

All I'm getting from this (aside from some useful e/n introspection which I'll say thank you for but not bug anybody with) is labels are poo poo and cause more trouble than they're worth.

As a counterpoint, I think labels are a fine thing as long as you don't think of them as absolutes. It's incredibly comforting to have a name to call yourself to know that you're not the only one out there experiencing that and from that foundation you can reach out and explore the true you rather than just drowning in a sea of possibilities.

It's definitely the most satisfying to read out of the three. Paranatural has pacing issues and Unsounded has a kind of oblique world and has more emphasis on long-form storytelling.

Paranatural has serious pacing issues and I'd advise not following it ever really. Might be why it doesn't get that many posts. Like the only thing each new page is seeing ridiculous faces whereas Poppy has actual things happening.

That's more than the Paranatural thread gets. But maybe that'll change now that hitball is over.

I don't really have a horse in this race but if someone effortposted an OP for a Poppy thread that'd be cool.

I don't even think Paranatiral is that bad. I just think its pacing could really use some work and the guy could maybe lean less on making goofy faces.

I'm happy that fka Campbell is still alive but I'm beyond done with their attempts to turn their mental illness into some bizarre off-putting performance art project. It's hard to sympathize with someone who keeps intentionally burning bridges and driving people away instead of getting help.

I mean that's the big thing that makes me not one to mock her. She's clearly in a self destructive spiral and trying to drive anyone away who could help her. She's trying to drive people off because deep down she doesn't think she's worthy of the help or outreach. It's something I've been through personally. No one of course should feel forced to help her, but understanding where she is and having been there, I'm not comfortable with just blanket calling her an rear end in a top hat.
