It almost seems like the level design EXPECTS you to abuse diagonal-strafe-jumping.

The tutorial (which is separate from the main game) teaches players diagonal jumping. So, yes, it does expect that.

Something you can do in multiplayer that you didn't show:

level select cheats! So, you can play the campaign as a raptor, or co-op it with a friend.
