W58's are silly money now. R154s are £1000+ for an old, unknown one. Everyone with a Toyota JZ or UZ series wants a R154.

I can get hold of a 2JZ-GE for a few hundred pounds more than an AJ30, but it will have the same power and won't fit as well.

I wish there was a decent RWD Japanese Turbo V6. The Mitsubishi models were all transverse, and I've heard not-great things about the VG30DETT.

Packaging a 30DETT into a RX8 would almost assuredly be an issue. Then, there's actually getting to things when you need to work on them.
