I see the horse combat hasn't gotten much better (although I guess it's easier to kill stuff now?). Does that go away after rohan or are they still trying to integrate that with future content?

Update 29 is supposed to be this month. Maybe next week hopefully? It has a minor graphics tech update, but it's a weird add because it basically only affects indoor zones. It does make moria and thorin's gate and some other places look a lot better though. Wildwoods should be pretty sweet. Nice to have a level 40 zone that isn't Misty Mountains or Angmar or whatever level 40 is now.

I'm not sure if those servers have faster or slower leveling, I thought the speed at which they were referring to was how fast they are going to do the progression unlocks (i.e., you can go into Moria now).

I'm going to try to get on Treebeard when it launches tomorrow

On bullroarer during earlier testing, that difficulty npc was also in the other starting areas (celondim and i assume also thorins hall and michael delving). Dunno if that changed though.

People are mad that -60% xp is still too fast? Man, what do they want? That's probably slower than retail was in 2007.

I'd say that it's less than it's confounding and more that it sucks. There's way too much crap on the store, there's too many ways they try to nickle and dime you. Then again you can earn LOTRO points I guess? It's not the greatest layout especially when you compare it to things like Star Trek Online or Neverwinter where the content is all free and they just try to get you when you get to the endgame. LOTRO, however, also does that with LIs. So it's less than optimal.

My $200 lifetime sub to that game remains one of the best deals I've ever done

There hasn't been any confirmed details about that in terms of either scope or timeframe. It is just something "they want to do" and are hoping to have done probably to ride on that Amazon LOTR hype (if that series ever comes out).

The only graphics update that has come so far is a system that fixes normal maps which basically hardly worked before and tweaks some of the lighting. It's definitely an improvement, but it only works in areas that have specific light sources (i.e., indoors and in Moria).

edit: minutes after I posted this, Amazon dropped the release date for their LOTR series which is sept 2, 2022. You've got a year, Standing Stone Games. Get crackin'

Brawler comes with all editions, to be released October 13th (update 31). This means the Brawler and the new LI system are mostly locked as they have been shown on Bullroarer (probably). Maybe one more round of beta? I know some people were saying it is not quite ready to go, but that's SSG to a t.

It's pretty brawly but I don't think it's Broly. :downs:

Some people online were saying to hold on to legendary items as they may change it to give more stuff later if they determine that some more things need to be compensated for in the appraisal / compensation process, but I have no idea if that's just something someone made up. All I know is that the new system is pretty confusing at first and having to go and buy the things to slot it seems cumbersome, but it's a lot more fire and forget than the old LI system. I have no idea why they didn't just keep the old system and take off the level cap on items. At least this one makes more sense from a lore perspective than "look at all these priceless weapons that man does not have the skill to make in the third age let me throw it in this buzz saw for scraps"

Are other goons playing on Treebeard? As in, do we have a kin there? I have characters I've been playing there with a friend of mine from time to time, but when I feel like playing on my own I don't know if I should go back to my OG captain on landroval or do something on Treebeard

Obviously, this requires names to be on to work (i think it's 'v'?). There are some stupid flowers or other things you have to do in some of the seasonal content that I was fighting with when I finally figured that out.

EG7 (Daybreak/Standing Stone Games' parent company) had it's Q3 investor report and there are a couple of interesting tidbits from their presentations (https://www.enadglobal7.com/reports-presentations/).

• Perennially ranked as a top 10 MMO
• The biggest and the truest simulation of Tolkien’s Middle Earth world online
• Along with Amazon’s new streaming series (reported to be the biggest budget series ever) based on the Lord of the Rings IP, Daybreak is investing in a major revamp to upgrade the visuals, modernize the experience and release on consoles

INTERIM REPORT Q3 2021 posted:

PIRANHA
Piranha celebrated the return of MechWarrior 5 on PlayStation for the first time in over 20 years. Net revenue and adjusted EBITDA for the quarter came in at SEK 47.6 million and SEK -8.4 million, respectively. Although the community reception was very positive, the overall sales on PlayStation had low impact, resulting in an operating loss for the quarter. Piranha has largely finished its development on MechWarrior 5 with limited residual effort for future maintenance. In Q4 2021, as the team further ramps down on MechWarrior 5, the plan is to fully utilize Piranha’s talented team to staff various key projects for the group such as the Lord of the Rings Online update.

I'm kind of optimistic but also kind of terrified.

I guess the question is if they really think they can get LOTRO on consoles (lol), will they just fork it and make a completely different feeling game and ultimately leave pc lotro alone? I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility. I'm not opposed to a UI revamp, it can't get much worse (famous last words). The combat in LOTRO is also, I dunno it's fine? But it's not great and never has been.

Yeah, pretty much. There's a button to get traceries based on your old LIs. Aside from that, they are going to use the LI xp items in the new battle pass system or whatever it is, which won't be out until 2022. They dropped some info on that in a live stream I guess but I haven't seen a breakdown of anything so the only thing I know is that it will be account wide and unlocks stuff (hopefully cosmetics etc)

The new system is definitely an improvement from "level up this weapon and then throw it in the woodchipper" but everything else about it is kind of a wreck. The biggest fault is that the UI for it is atrocious. I hope it's something they improve in u32 or sooner but I'm not even seeing updates to it on their radar. It's bizarre. I really wish they would fix Mounted Combat, it's not god awful as a system but I agree with you about the drift. I've always said that if they increased the turn speed of all horses by 25% it would make that system feel miles better but at this point they really haven't touched it in years. Maybe once they get u32 out and the new LI track in they can address it, but I guess it really depends on what their plans for "ohgodthenewamazonshowiscomingoutwehavetodosomething" are

If they really think that they are going to get this game on consoles and get new players playing it, it really does have to be addressed though

I still contend that they could do some moderate tweaks to mounted combat to make it acceptable.

The easiest is to increase the turn rate of horses across the board by 20-25%. That alone would make it less like ice skating and generally make the warhorses controllable enough to even use as a regular mount (which right now you basically don't do unless you are only planning on going forward and never turning). Lately, I've also settled on the idea that they should make it so that when you turn, your horse loses speed, which inherently would also increase the turn rate. But yeah, right now the warhorse turning is basically Rohan Drift even on the light horses that have the best turn rate so it becomes go forward, do attacks, maybe slow down and turn, do another pass. It's tedious at best.
