A lot of people need jobs and we have a population problem. We build the wall and bury the workers in the wall as we go like the Chinese did. When its done, the people who made the wall will be gone, which helps the labor market and we have a wall to keep out the unmentionables.

Is there any advantage to building a deep trench over building a wall? It seems like it would have more or less the same drawbacks (you could go over it with the right tools) but it'd be a lot cheaper and easier to "build".

Since it's the desert you also have a use a special floating foundation system due to lack of strong bedrock for a better foundation
