Here is one way the crisis could be solved: the CIA starts an actual real plot (as opposed to the one that exists in Borneo Jimmy's head) to overthrow the Venezuelan government, suceeds in their plot, and installs a US-controlled puppet government. The new government then recieves more than enough clandestine funds from it's new masters to unfuck everything, even aside from being more competent and less evil than the current one.

That would require the government to understand, or desire, having business in the country that make money for themselves, rather than shovelling all of their profits into the PSUV's pocket. Also, in case it wasn't obvious, I was joking when I posted the CIA thing. Doesn't mean it wouldn't be a good idea though.

The problem isn't the labor supply, it's that food must legally be sold for a fraction of what it costs to produce. Even if labor was free, fertilizer, equipment, fuel, and expertise have to be imported. The agricultural sector is the least developed of any South American country, that's not the sort of problem that can be fixed in 8 months. How will any of this be payed for? Confiscation of the property of anyone who doesn't toe the PSUV's line.
