It's not even just the price caps or the nationalization or the general incompetence in managing the oil industry-- various large companies that produce critical goods, as part of "nationalization", keep getting handed over to incompetent flunkies of Maduro who only know how to squeeze harder. The entire government currently exists as a vehicle to funnel as much money as possible into the pockets of Maduro and his family + friends. Also the military higher ups that ensure he remains in power.

Lightning Knight posted:How would it be any better? That seems to be the missing piece here. Lol you know absolutely nothing about this topic and just showed up here to poo poo on the venegoons because Trump said something about it. You've made it clear from your posts in this thread that you havn't even bothered to look at the Venezuelan constitution or done even the most cursory reading about the current economic and political situation in Venezuela. You are the epitome of an American bourgeoisie left-wing dilettante, utterly incapable of viewing any affair except through a lense relating to the US.

Despite the endless whining from tankie retards (some in this very thread, even) about the Venezuelan opposition being backed by the CIA, no one has ever produced even one single shard of evidence that this is the case. The US has largely ignored Venezuela other than passing sanctions on specific members of the PSUV (and arresting some of them periodically in the US when they get caught drug trafficking or laundering money). Even if the current government can be dislodged, repairing the Venezuelan economy is going to be a long painful process. It's not just repairing and replacing the stuff that's broken, but also reversing the brain drain-- skilled workers have fled the country in droves. Venezuela is going to need massive amounts of aid just to pull itself back from the brink and even more to get itself back on it's feet.

https://www.miamiherald.com/latest-news/article225123050.html The Venezuelan military attache in DC has flipped on Maduro. I think this is the highest ranked military officer to do so. The most likely answer is that a bunch of random guns were tossed on a sheet so the US could be accused of smuggling them. Also the power went out twice during Maduro's press conference and he screamed at the electricity minister lol

Looks like China might be getting ready to throw Maduro under the bus; they've been holding talks with representatives of the opposition in the US. Guess they figure they're more likely to eventually see some kind of repayment from the opposition instead of Maduro and his cronies.
