If you have a degree, a clean record, and no mental illness, it shouldn't be too hard. Most departments have several recruiting periods a year and the difficulty of getting picked upin one is inversely related to how bad they need people. Do a few ride alongs to meet some officers who can later vouch for you, but mostly to decide if it's what you want to do. Its a lot more boring than tv makes it seem.
