I would highly recommend (if you haven't already) reading up on the different types of DFS games/leagues/whatever you can join (ex. head-to-head versus tournaments) and how the strategies change for each one. I burned through my money last year right quick because I didn't take that into consideration.

Yeah I have. I'm planning on sticking to cash games and avoiding head to head with maybe one 10 dollar tourney a week to add some spice. I'm not interested in being a serious grinder but I also don't want to put it all on black and spin once.

...in a 50/50 :(

Should have played this lineup somewhere else I guess.

E: in fact had I played it in my gpps id be winning 1000+ instead of like 9 dollars.

What's everyone looking at this week? I've only done my Last Grinder Standing lineup so far but:

Foles
Lynch
Murray
Landry
Julio
TWill
Seferian-Jenkins
Nugent
Dolphins

Wanted Eifert or Palmer but had to give somewhere.

Yeah at 7k he's not a must take but I am wavering between him and Lynch.

So I'm building my lineups for the week and noticing I'm super heavy on Lynch and to a lesser extent Hyde. I feel good about both but how bad an idea is it to have so much exposure to one player? Should I diversify more or is it safe to lean on Lynch this week?

So i am going real light on the TE spot, so i'm picking between Crockett Gillmore or Richard Rodgers, i'm leaning Rodgers since the Seahawks are vulnerable against TE's and even more so without Kam.

thoughts?

I would go Gillmore if you are punting TE. Rodgers is better as a player but the Packers have like nine other weapons to throw to and the Ravens don't really have anyone. And Week 1 they showed they will go to Gillmore with the game on the line, he just didn't come down with it against double coverage.

Edit: Ugh I need to stop reading so much stuff before like Saturday. I'm talking myself in circles about Hyde this week. On the one hand, great talent, still cheap especially on DK, playing against a bad Steelers run D. On the other, short week traveling east in a game where he's likely to be behind and SF may abandon the run.

This was basically a slaughter week for me for cash RBs. I was on Forsett, Forte, Abdullah, Ingram, Miller, Hyde, and Lynch. All basically shat the bed. My WRs saved me in some of those but I'm still down on the week because the 6 safest RBs I could find all scored under 10pts.

It's possible a miracle week from Fitzpatrick/Decker could cash me in some tournaments but that is a long shot (and I knew it was when I entered it)

Yeah fitz/decker and Moncreif made my losses not QUITE so stingy, wound up down 20 bucks on the weekend on an outlay of about 150. Looking back the rbs sucked but at least they all made double digits except Abdullah. It was the defenses that really hosed me. All the experts are saying this was the worst week for RBs they can remember ever, so at least I wasn't alone.

Even with the losses, DFS does increase my personal interest in every single game so it's worth the losses to be excited about random Browns/Titans games I would otherwise just be sad it was even on.

But last night when they needed to close out the game running they did it with Powell.

Also I'll never not play woodhead on DK. He's basically a 50/50 split with Gordon who isn't very good and gets passing downs and redzone looks. He almost can't fail to get 3x value as a floor.

Is there accepted wisdom on what types of games one should be playing? In general, I think I will be playing 80% cash and 20% GPP on any given week, but of those cash games, what % should be H2H vs 50/50 or doubleups? I'm a new fish and scared of H2H but people seem to rely on it heavily.

Also is there any reason to play the Fanduel "head to head matrix" games? It seems like it makes the sting of losing less bad but significantly less reward as well unless you beat EVERYONE. I'm looking at the money spread and wondering why I would play this over a 50/50.

Edit: Also I'll throw this here in case there's anyone here who isn't already on Fanduel (https://www.fanduel.com/?invitedby=joshthestampede&cnl=da) or draftkings (https://www.draftkings.com/r/Joshthestampede)

Given the two, I'd take Dunbar. Is the rest of your construction top heavy enough to warrant such a low cost guy?

I'm admittedly new to DFS and only playing on FanDuel but I haven't had to scrape that low into the skill guys in order to fill out a decent roster. This week my lowest cost skill guy in my GPP entry is Woodhead at $6400. I could see if you were running out Antonio Brown and Gronk though.

Those guys (woodhead, dunbar, sproles, etc) are way better on DK than on FD. Prices are softer and its full PPR. I often stack my roster with a couple of those guys to start, fill out with studs, and then upgrade them if I have money left over.

E: My dilemma this week: Moncrief, Crabtree, or Allen Robinson in cash on FD? They're all about the same price.

Robinson > Moncrief >>> Crabtree. That said, I see both Robinson and Moncrief as being primarily GPP plays since they have yet to demonstrate consistency. Opportunity is there for sure, but the floors aren't high enough for me to be comfortable with them in cash games. If I had to pick one, it'd be Robinson. A sneaky cash play on FD might be Nate Washington since he's been getting ~9 targets a game. Now he hasn't been great at converting those targets into catches, which is likely the QB's fault, but that's good volume for his price.

They both have a lot of targets though, and Crabs leads the NFL in targets for WRs. That said, the ~6000 range of WRs isn't much better, with Stevie Johnson, Doug Baldwin, Kendall Wright, Mike Wallace, John Brown, none of which really make me feel safe in cash.

Yeah I like Freeman too. My main problem with him is that on DK he is more expensive than Yeldon. Yeldon has been getting way more rushing attempts and is a more talented player. The only downside to Yeldon is game flow. The Patriots will likely destroy the Jags, so he might not get as many carries as he has been getting.

I'm staying away from a hobbled Lacy against a great front in KC. Lynch is going to cause me so much pain if he doesn't play but if he isn't 100% he might not be a good play anyway....

Yeah, me too, but the danger is that a hobbled Lacy makes Starks a bad play. Whereas Starks alone for 3k is basically a must play.

I'm off Lynch at this point in cash, Bell or AP are just as good for about the same price, no point in getting ulcers over Lynch.

\/\/\/ Assuming all those guys are starting, I would say Freeman, Powell, Jackson, Polk is the order. Polk will split with Blue, Jackson will split with Rawls. Freeman and Powell are pretty close, but Coleman is definitely out at this point while Ivory may play and be limited and cut into Powell's carries.

It doesn't actually matter whether the dude cheated or even whether he could have. The two major face companies of a brand new billion dollar industry with already shaky PR based on its connection to old poker industry and its status as sort of gambling need to avoid any whiff of possible impropriety. Even if that means being too draconian on their employees and being a little unfair to them.

JoshTheStampede

Yes but as I said, all that matters now is the avoidance of any semblance of impropriety. The question of whether they should have been banned from the beginning isn't terribly relevant. They have to be banned now, even though that honestly sucks for them since they are pros, and will likely lead to pros not wanting to work for the sites in the future.
