Our big 3 content providers have pretty much divided all the good content from the U.S. (and the UK) between them, so stuff like GoT is all tied up rights wise to a single provider.

I've got my current Apple TV tied to a U.S. App Store account and using HBO Now/American Netflix/etc right now. You're right, Rogers/Bell/Shaw/Telus suck.
